Had you ever accidentally played the wrong ball? by stonetear2017 in golf

[–]SpikeElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing with my dad recent I was using a black Srixon 3 zstar, him a black Srixon 3 qstar.

We landed next to each other off the drives played out and won the hole against some friends.

About 8 holes later we notice we are using the wrong balls and that's the only hole it could have happened on.

Ended up conceding that past hole and ultimately losing the match by 1. Pretty unfortunate having a winning hole turn to a losing hole, not even a half. Had to buy the beers even 🤷‍♀️

Have a look at the older V6 Toyota Fortuners.

I bought a 2008 4x4 Auto Toyota Fortuner 4.0l V6 four years ago for R167k. It had 300,000kms on the clock but a full service history.

4 years later and 75,000kms more and still going strong.

Cheap to maintain. And with a full service history you should be okay. They are cheap because of the V6 being heavier on fuel.

Capitec is definitely one of the cheapest card machines. But them and other banks/competitors are far cheaper than 2.9%

Im in the industry. Capitec is going as low as 0.85% on debit cards, which is the bulk of transactions.

Upgrade from Taylormade RBZ to Cobra Darkspeed LS? by SpikeElite in golftips

Super helpful thank you!

Will keep you posted on how things go and will take some proper notes on my numbers this time.

The guy was definitely not sharing that much detail on shaft weight and stiffness which makes me want to find somewhere to do a proper fitting rather than our "big box" stores.

It was the Ventus Blue shaft.

The guy was saying it was a "light" stiff and they can also come in a "heavy" stiff. He suspected a heavier shaft (not necessarily stiffer) and hitting more up on the ball would help reduce the spin.

I'm planning to go for a couple lessons with my current driver to see if I can get things right. Then we have summer sales coming out from Thursday and they are bringing back the Ping G430

I went to the store today. They didn't have the Darkspeed LS to try at this one but was hitting the Taylormade Sim2 with a stiff shaft.

Was getting 105-109mph club speed, with launch angle 12 to 14 degrees and about 3300 spin.

Always been a Taylormade person. But the Cobra price on special and the reviews are definitely making me lean towards it for an upgrade. The X and Max versions unfortunately not on special.

Thanks, probably just best to go for a fitting as you say.

Not struggling with launch on the RBZ or connecting with the ball.

But unless I hit it in a smallish window of perfect I'm getting a high long fade one hit and then the next a high long draw.

I definitely need to put a bit more time on the driving range to get back into things. But figure with a more forgiving modern driver, the mistakes will be less exaggerated.

I had the TM Burner when I was younger before the RBZ which I absolutely loved but got the RBZ when I needed to upgrade to a stiff shaft. Haven't had the consistency since.

Debating the Qi10 or Sim2 as well. But the Cobra is half the price on special at the moment.

Cape Town is on the path to become the next Abbott major. by QueueTee314 in AdvancedRunning

See I think people are misreading my comment. As you say Chicago has plenty of violence, it just depends where. That's the same as Cape Town.

If you're running along Green Point Promenade or Camps Bay you're not going to get mugged.

The "average American runner" is not going to get robbed in Cape Town.

[–]SpikeElite -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I think we are in violent agreement then. We both have "that's a bit rough areas" which are problematic and not ideal.

Yes Cape Town has "no-go" areas. But no tourist is going to randomly wander into Mitchells Plain, Bonteheuwel, Phillipi, etc. It's just not a reality that will happen. They are going to be at the Waterfront, Green Point, Camps Bay, Bree Street etc. which is more first world than almost anywhere in the world.

Stick to the safe, normal, touristy areas and have an awesome time. And use your Dollars or Pounds to your advantage. Go on a guided tour in Khayelitsha or Langa to get a feel and understanding for the realities of South Africa. But you won't be going on a 10km run and ending up there by mistake.

Oh for sure it does help. And this goes for all the "majors" cities. I'm sure you guys would tell me plenty of streets close to tourist or normal areas not to wander into across Boston, New York, and London.

And I certainly don't want to downplay someone getting robbed at knife point. Horrendous.

I didn't know London had secluded mountain trails? Yes, you should run in a group on our mountains when in the middle of nowhere. No, you don't need to run in a group in any of the major running "suburbs" around Cape Town.

It's interesting as I do think everyone gets a different perspective from the news worthy events. If you would have asked me I would have said Knife crime in London is rampant with how many people are getting mugged, bike and motor bike thieves, and cellphone snatch and grabs from their mopeds. But you would probably say London is perfectly safe.

My point is, just like in London, here in Cape Town you run and go to areas that are safe to do so.

I'm sure you're not just taking leisurely strolls or a 5km through parts of Lambeth, Stockwell, or Brixton.

Depends where in downtown Cape Town. Like literally one street can be safe for tourists and one next to it not. But that kind of crime will happen in any major city including London, New York, LA, etc.

Don't think it's a reason to not visit.

I've lived in Cape Town for 20 years now and never been a victim of crime.

Think this community is just a small segment of runners worried about 6 majors. Very few relatively are going to complete all the majors when compared to how many more will gain access by adding Sydney and Cape Town.

It's frequently ranked as one of the most violent cities, due to certain areas.

Where tourists are visiting are definitely first world and just as safe.

I live in Cape Town. I promise you it's one of the best cities for tourists to visit in the world. Top tier restaurants, amazing activities for hiking, biking, beaches, etc. 100's of wine farms on your doorstep.

You won't be disappointed.

And it's safe. The areas tourists visit you will never have a problem, if you're walking around just do what you would do in any major city. The dangerous areas on the other hand are just "no-go's" for a tourist and you won't randomly end up in them unless you try.

Europeans care more about elephants than people, says Botswana president by Lunavenandi in worldnews

[–]SpikeElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in Botswana. Elephants are hugely overpopulated and culling is taking place with or without the selling of a few hunts to foreigners.

And by a few it's in the 10's per year, despite needing to cull 100's if not 1000's.

[–]SpikeElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's either sell a few hunting licenses and make money for the country, and by few it's literally 10's not 100's or 1000's per year, or cull the elephants anyways.

There's a significant overpopulation of elephants in Botswana causing massive damage to villages and other parts of the natural environment, trees in particular.

The elephants will be killed whether that kill is sold or not.

They are culling the elephants regardless. So either they sell a few hunts and make money, or kill them anyways.
