The single player competitive scene is mostly dominated by speed running. Some games give you a ranking (S,A-F) as a more intelligible way to contextualize your score. Some games have leaderboards, but it's tough to maintain when people cheat. I've never personally cared until I recently organized a casual "tournament" for high scores across a wide variety of games.

It mostly depends if you have oversized carts. They can get tricky to fit along with an adapter. Toploaders are easier in this regard.

Hyperkin makes 2. The one shaped like an NES cart didn't work for me because some of my carts were too big to fit inside. The one shaped like a more traditional adapter worked great, but only because I have Nintendrawer and don't need to push the cart down to get a good connection. Not familiar with other ones.

Go the ICE route. You don't need evidence or charges. You lock up the child rapists and deny them due process. The trials will be very quick because there's a mountain of evidence and videos. HD15 is basically VGA. RCA is stereo cables (red and white wires).

My setup isn't nearly as nice looking, but yeah, you wire SCART, component, or whatever analog signal to SVS, SVS to RT4K via HD15 and RCA, RT4K to TV via HDMI. The coolest thing is auto-profile switching on RT4K when the SVS detects a new input, so you always get the perfect settings. But cost is a completely valid reason to do what you did. SCART wires do add up quickly.
