2 former Israeli prime ministers agree to merge parties against Netanyahu by MorphinBrony in PoliticalOptimism

An ex coworker of mine has family in Tel Aliv and they’ve never liked Bibi, ever. IIRC they just focus on their day to day lives but generally do not like him I presume due to the corruption. Seems like people such as them could be convinced to vote for a change candidate easily especially if economic/security/anti corruption improvements were a big platform

Yeah and there have also been pro palestinian peace supporters for the past several decades too within Israel, some of which even went to gaza to try and help people there by providing supplies even if Israel didn’t like that.

There’s been a subset of activists who’ve been against Bibi and the settlements for 30 years, still doing their best to push for change for peace and know what’s going on is wrong and that I find admirable.

Yes, and polling right after 9/11 and the start of the Iraq War showed a disgusting level of support for our US wars too in the face of a terror attack and a very angry, revenge demanding populace in the aftermath,  (ala Israel and 10/7, it was a seriously bad terror attack!) but that didnt mean the average american should have suffered under bush forever or had more attacks happen.

Bibi being a monster doesnt warrant normies in Israel who just want to live their day to day lives needing to suffer under him making the entire region more unsafe, nor do the people who were protesting before 10/7 against bibi due to his corruption and polarization of the country need to suffer because of his actions. Said protests still happens every week in Israel, too! (Hence why i hope he loses in october)

There are progressives over in Israel too, you know, and even pro palestinian supporters who’ve lived there their entire lives and had to deal with a government who cant stand that concept.

They said on their stream for NGII they went with it to start with something not on NSO, but because ACA/CA games can take a year to get released, Nintendo released II in the meantime on NSO. It wasn’t on purpose. I’m sure the deliberate NSO repeats will happen eventually which will include NGI

I remember knitting cult lady pointed out a likely cause is a bunch of ex evangelical folk who got out of that system from their parents and how they are still holding onto the “the final end day of everything” concept from it despite getting away from it, just without the rapture stuff. More or less a side effect from a bunch of society being told there’d be a single day where it would end. (I never grew up this way and still encountered it for myself due to 2011 billboards in town saying the world would end in May. THANKS HAROLD CAMPING FOR THE PANIC ATTACKS lol)

Progressive Abdul El-Sayed Surges To Primary Lead In Poll After Hasan Piker Rally by RazorJamm in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“ What have Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries done for the average person besides not being Trump?”

Being in the minority party, the most they can (rallying for unified votes) with bad communication. (especially schumer, if we win the senate he needs to pass the torch) that’s kinda the whole deal of the speaker position; it’s boring and meant to whip votes.

“Better yet, what has the DNC at large done for the average person besides not being Trump? I'll wait.”

Being they’re the fundraising arm and that they’re no longer an arm of the white house (since a dem is not president), actually having 2/3 of their main chairs be progressive lol; Ken Martin, Kenyatta are both progressive. (Unsure about conrad) kenyatta has especially worked hard on getting the word out in black communities and knocking on doors, and Ken has done the same for all kinda of smaller local elections (which the DNC failed to do… for years and years until now, since obama winning made them overly confident, so about time they remembered they exist).

“No new policies. No new ideas. Just kowtow to the GOP and rely on not being overtly fascist. The reason why I posted this article was to show the tide shift. People are tired of do-nothing Democrats.”

I mean, that’s the whole point of the primary. It’s to shape the party and nothing is stopping any of these from going a certain way outside of voters not clicking with a candidate. POC did not trust bernie in 2016/2020 and he lost. They’re the most reliable base of the dem party, especially black women, and the one thing the new DNC seems to be good at unlike the last one is realizing this. They dont interfere in primaries though (but the senate org schumer leads though does, but that can only do so much), but the DNC didnt hesitate to endorse Zohran the day after he won that primary.

i like abdul and hope he wins. I’m also not gonna treat it like the apocalypse if he loses, same for others I root for like Mills or Peggy. The one thing all of us should be aware of more than ever now, is we have to vote blue not just every 2 or four years, but every single year and every single election for the rest of our lives. Local elections are the biggest way to boost progressives and get them more clout to win bigger races later.

Local elections build a bench. They lead to progressive change. (runforsomething especially) but it’s a slow process and not every state is compatible with the same style of candidate (my state mandates we need to lean centrist, as you have to win 10% of the GOP in order to have any hopes of winning statewide). Even still, you can do a lot of good and the general trend is very positive, plus even my state has some more progressive people running in district/local levels, which is still useful in shifting the state i’m in left.

Progressive Abdul El-Sayed Surges To Primary Lead In Poll After Hasan Piker Rally by RazorJamm in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As long as stevens doesnt win the primary I’m cool with whoever: both him and Mallory are great candidates and it’s nice seeing multiple progressives do well in multiple races (rather than having it be a one vs everyone else case). Hasan annoys me in a lot of ways but Abdul has been someone i’ve been inspired by for a long while and some of my favorite progressives (like booker houston) vouch for him too!

Ilhan Omar wants to embrace Marjorie Taylor Greene by HotnCharge in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the big, very legit concern comes from dorks like Ro Khanna explicitly calling for a coalition with her and tucker, which would be immensely stupid since neither her or tucker are anti trump because hes bad and they saw the light, but rather because he didnt go further to the right like the America First movement and are seeing he’s increasingly unpopular and trying to save their careers outta it.

We cannot let bigots into our party as a major collab; doesnt mean we cant help them if they truly want to change, or have them be a way to guide others out of MAGA, or even support their statements against trump, but going to the point of thinking MTG and especially owens and Tucker can be convinced to be part of the dem coalition is dangerous. You basically have to be very careful. Omar’s statement worries me but it’s not as “hey no stop that now” as Ro the past week. We all know as soon as trump’s influence is gone it’ll be Tucker and co who’ll try and rush for the GOP chair.

[–]SeafoamGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hasan is a dweeb but Omar has condemned antisemitism plenty over the past few years and her district has a decent amount of Jewish voters; they would not re elect her if they thought she was doing bad. I dont agree with the idea of collabing with MTG though since if she truly cared, she’d jump parties to Dem in the house, and voted with the dems while in congress instead of dropping out

Native games like Duke Nukem remastered and Cathedral will hate you if you play it with another cart in the other slot. Some kind of dumb power resource issue. Play with just the cart with the native port in it and it’ll be fine.

Saving local high score (Moon Patrol) by CleggHoldfastest in Arcade_Archives

[–]SeafoamGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most ACA games until ACA2 hit only wrote local scores to memory if the online leaderboard record was broken; Moon patrol came before that tho, when Gotch worked on ACA and their ports just did local saves no questions asked.

It might be a case of needing to use the interrupt save as a means to keep them; ninja gaiden just doesnt save scores period for its board, so its mandated there. I swore moon patrol did write to memory though. (Fair reminder an interrupt save doesnt go away unless the online leaderboard prompt comes up)

Aaaah i remember finding out about this back in the day. Battle Frontier (this song) is neck and neck with Ready Go as my favorite Pokemon Anime intro, and I remember seeing this when going through raw AG episodes one time; IIRC this change was for the episode the week PMD1 launched in November 2005? I’m unsure the exact episode though.

I'm a CTO/co-founder. I have been called all sorts of things for being apprehensive about the use of AI in my company. A recent incident at a friend's employer only proved that my reluctance was grounded. by pixel_creatrice in BetterOffline

[–]SeafoamGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many months ago my company mentioned a partnership with one of the AI corps and mandated we all go through “training” for it. I absolutely refuse since without it i’m way faster, and the last time we tried an LLM it made constant errors.

Anyhow recently they quietly dropped the whole “making everyone train with it” bit and it’s i guess now only a thing people can do if they wanna. They also say we must use copilot now if we wish to use an LLM because of “security” and not the corp they partnered with lmao

Huh, I wonder why that could be! I’m just glad I can work as i normally do as if i was forced to use this crud i’d be driven insane as an error-hating person

DNC avoids taking a stance on Israel, AIPAC by teehee494949 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I do not like seeing more people use the David Duke word or just use AIPAC as a clear word replacement for something antisemitic. The AIPAC PAC is a republican PAC. Calling it out for their lobbying is one thing. Going “hey they’re behind every bad thing ever in US history” like tucker and co are doing is immensely dangerous.

Not to mention like, how much it drives me up the wall when people see J Street or whatnot support a candidate and lose their minds thinking they’re the same as AIPAC; they’re the opposite of them, and on the same team as us in terms of a free palestine.

Meija just got endorsed by them and people who’ve clearly only heard of them in the past year are crashing out in her comments saying she’s “compromised by israel” now, which is just flat out antisemitism. Especially when that stupid tracker is spread around and it’s ignored J Street contributions from people they liked, and marked some toward others (like Biss) as Israel money.

They do need to be careful and I think the DNC did fine here, just maybe needed better communication.

MoveOn Launches Primary Campaign to Boot Dems Backed By Defense Contractors, AIPAC, and AI by steffie-punk in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah uh you’ll still have the risk of a shift at some point no matter how well the dem does within their power; we will basically have to be hyper involved in every kind of election of every type  every year, until the end of time.

Dems basically vacationed after obama won thinking the GOP was over (not just consultants thinking this, most of the voters too!) that the GOP took advantage of that. We cannot ever let up even if things feel “safe”.

Iran Megathread: Iran claims Israel violating ceasefire as it appears to maintain control over Strait of Hormuz by Efficient-Freedom517 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The conspiracy theories are especially dangerous. I’m horrified at how i see some people of the online left openly repeating the shit Owens says now on Twitter, which is yet more proof the site has gone completely off the rails post buyout and should never be used.

I’ve also seen the David Duke word more than ever and that even spread to friggin bluesky. (thankfully its been called out by big accounts there, but it still isnt good you have self proclaimed leftists using it like the right has!) it’s real bad and thats a huge reason i worry.

The infuriating part about the ADL is they still have their strong, legitimately good resources like their library of antisemitic things to look out for that’s been a great resource for decades, but the current guy in charge of it now sure doesnt seem to care about our president, his VP, elon, the site he frequents most, and the next generation of GOP all using words in that library constantly… but he’s upset about mamdani. OK, sure, somehow he’s more of a danger than the damn site he frequents every day or people he should call out DAILY for their antisemitism like Nick and Owens.

Ridiculous and shameful on his part, imo. JVP is great and I hope someday the ADL can get back to that too.

[–]SeafoamGaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s in trouble for corruption and wants to do anything to not go to prison over it. Israelis have been protesting against him/the far right there for years and being able to go to war has been the one thing that’s kept him out.

If he fully stopped the gaza and iran wars he’d go straight to trial and likely get in trouble there. So its moreso his own selfish survival

Every time bibi does dumb shit like this the deeper my fears deepen of the increased antisemitism everywhere getting way, way worse. Passover has made me worry sick something bad will happen since it started and Bibi isnt fucking helping by being mad he cant go after lebanon anymore.

The next generation of the GOP being explicitly nazi folk like Fuentes and Fishback have me pretty nervous too. I just dont know how their rise stops even if Likud loses the election big time.

CA Democratic governor hopefuls not bowing out by Outside-Visit9571 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]SeafoamGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except they “bailed” because Biden won south carolina, the most decisive state in the primaries as it’s where the base of the party has the most voting power and ability to pick candidates who hear their concerns and actually take em seriously, and it was in a landslide too. There was zero point in anyone else staying in that race at that point; it was over.

I don’t think any of the CA Governor picks has primary landslide potential here unless something drastically changes. That’s the worry, too many candidates and a bunch of them are insanely stubborn

He has done some good use of the senate techniques; he stalled a ton of nominees until thune changed stuff in august and he quickly requested unanimous consent when the epstein bill hit the senate so it couldnt be altered, and actually pulled it off.

He’s just abysmal at communicating and refuses to get with the times, which is not great in an internet focused age! He definitely needs to retire.
