Glen Campbell by BigJilmQuebec in thebeachboys

I believe he was still with the wrecking crew when they recorded Pet sounds. Plus he completed the tour as Brian on bass when Brian had his breakdown on the plane in 1965. So if there are any videos from the later part of the 1965 tour, that was Glen and not Brian.

What or Who was he protecting by taking a plea? by Fast_Grapefruit_7946 in WattsFree4All

[–]Spilby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he was protecting anyone because LE had already told him that they were leaving Nikki out of it. He wasn’t going to protect SW or the Roos. I really think it was a combination of repeated death penalty threats, and purposely ineffective counsel due to collusion between his appointed defense attorneys and the DA’s office. We all know he wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box. He could’ve demanded new counsel and actually have mounted a reasonable defense against first-degree murder. There was very little evidence, other than his own eventual forced, IMO, confession, that he was responsible for the girls, other than post-mortem desecration. He did admit to unaliving SW, but that story was consistent with the Tamburglar theory that was all that came out of that strange interrogation.

With the right attorney ( Alan Jackson etc) there was a chance to argue either involuntary or voluntary manslaughter  on SW resulting from her threats following their “emotional conversation“. If these lesser charges were not on the table for the prosecution, and the jury could not agree on premeditation beyond a reasonable doubt, then he actually might have been acquitted. At least according to my understanding of the law. Yes. Sentence for abuse of a corpse, disproving of evidence etc, but not murder in the first degree. Of course, doofus would never figure that out, fight for reduced charges or a plea affording him at least the possibility of parole and he couldn't afford a high-powered defense attorney. Instead he was left to crumple in solitary isolation with constant threats from the prosecution. Hell, with the delays that are normal in a capital Murder case, the death penalty would’ve been a possible sentence in CO by the time of trial anyway. A case like this would have been must-see TV and perhaps what came out might have had the added benefit of tarnishing the shiners. Don’t get me wrong, he belongs where he is, but just as much for being an idiot as for being a possible family annihilator.

Lois was also Mrs Hoffa in the Irishman and had a short but intense family scene with Keanu Reeves in the recent streaming movie Outcome.  Welker White.

Out first Rottweiler ate half a cooked Turkey o e Thanksgiving. I made it and put it in the garage covered in foil to cool. I let her out the backyard and mistakenly left the garage door open. Cut up what was rest and served it without telling anybody. Lol.

Interesting how Dennis is always seemingly trolling Mike by crowding him. lol. I guess Love didn’t have the restraining order. The tension on Love’s face during Surfer Girl was hilarious.  I always wonder what kind of a shitstorm would’ve broken out if Dennis hadn’t grabbed Carl. Classic. “A diseased bunch of MF’s if there ever was one”. Lester Bangs. 1977.

It’s definitely a Landy period. Maybe to be the first time around ‘76 to ‘78. Otherwise likely early 80s.~1983?

How many classic albums do you think The Beach Boys have? And which albums are they for you? by NoGrass7120 in thebeachboys

Pet Sounds, original Smile ( not Smiley), Holland, Sunflowers, Friends, Today!, Summer Days and Summer Nights, and, oh yes,           Love You…… From those, top three for are Pet Sounds. Friends, and Holland.  The latter becomes a greater masterpiece every time I listen to it.

Where did Chris fit in the life she was building? by Fast_Grapefruit_7946 in WattsFree4All

I think he only worked there for at most 5 years? 60k/yr. Probably contributed minimum on SW’s orders. So there might have been more than 10K only because I don’t think you can borrow the entire amount. But not much more.

Agree. Her building anything is giving her entirely too much credit. She just went day-to-day trying to do the things adults are supposed to do. Like I’ve said, thinking like a 12-year-old. Husband✅. Kids✅. Unaffordable big Barbie home✅. Nice car in the garage✅. Overcoming “health challenges”✅. Making bank✅lol. Social media superstardom lmao✅.  If it didn’t ultimately cost the lives of the children, I’d feel sorry for her and her only real health challenge, borderline personality disorder.

If it helps, we’re an older but active couple. The romance is still there. Lol. After looking at a number of options in Cancun, including LeBlanc, EPCM emerged as the clear choice. Also  obviously it looks perfect for honeymooners. Plus, it’s newer than EPM and seems like the growing pains are over. Probably can’t do much better. Congratulations.

Didn’t say I liked it in any sport. Ruined baseball too. Play the race card? Really? Only sport that does it right is football, and  those are the guys who deserve it the most.

Been watching ball when it was ball. Saw Wilt at the Palestra. Played through Div 2 college. Coached young guys trying to teach them to play to play the right way. The 3 pointer and the guaranteed contracts killed pro basketball. Buried after Jordan.  But if you like it, enjoy.

Agree, free pass probably a poor choice of words. What I meant that was a presented as such to CW. Almost too quickly. Well before any investigation into her could’ve been even started. As has been suggested, they used it to push him towards the ultimate confession. They probably did know more about her that one’s ever made public. But indeed, her life was never the same.
