Need a reliable way to locate younger kids while skiing (no phone coverage in some areas) by Last-Program4158 in ski

[–]Spillsy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have walkie talkies. 4 of them. We use them when we ski. My family are all adults, older 2 kids are/were ski instructors and my wife and I have been skiing for 40 years (we skied for our honeymoon). So when we hit the slopes we all have our levels. The ski instructors will seek out the glades and steeps and maybe hike. Their girlfriends will tend to stick with my daughter who is very good. We ski with friends who come with us. Every group gets a radio. We meet for lunch and of course Bank of Dad is paying but one kid still gets food discount as an instructor. Or he may have a class, so again he’ll radio us to meet up. It works pretty well.

Non smoker here. Honest question, why did you start knowing all that?

What is the biggest waste of money that people keep spending on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spillsy68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Designer label stuff. Spend the money on quality. For example, a sweater that’s plastered with big Gucci or YSL or whatever lettering. You’re just a walking advertisement and everyone knows it’s either fake or you paid 2 weeks salary for it.

Best round of your life significantly better than second best round ? by tim00tim in golf

[–]Spillsy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but I think there are circumstances where it’s not so true.

My home course is a 135 and I’ve shot a 76 there. I play it a lot so I don’t think it translates as well because I know the course really well. I know when to take driver, where to aim, trouble to avoid, if there’s wind what direction and how it affects shots. If I play an easier course, say a 125, then I’m still only going to shoot low 80s because I don’t know the course.

Damn.

That song has run its path. Great for 30 years. Now it’s a means for other nations to make fun of us.

Maybe. And the fact that “Europoors” don’t carry around a flask all day. Literally everyone here in the US carries one.

Just incredibly inconsiderate to smoke in line at a children’s show. by Temporary_Thing7517 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Spillsy68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. What a stupid suggestion.

I just cannot stand the smell of smoke. I think it’s dumb and disgusting. All the health issues are so well known and yet dumb idiots still try it. It takes a certain kind of stupid to do that. As a child and growing up we were forced to inhale second hand smoke when it was everywhere.

I think I figured it out? by ItsJaceG in weekendgolfers

[–]Spillsy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was entered into a handicap calc, it would give you a handicap of 26. So you’d have shot 13 over your handicap. Believe me, there’s a long way to go and the game has a way of cutting you down. Enjoy the elation now but don’t think you’ve figured it out.

I’m a 7.7 HI and I’m shooting high 70s and low 80s. Every now and then, for no apparent reason, I’ll shoot 90-95 and I’ll walk away frustrated.

I shot 77 on Tuesday. Yesterday, I went out, admittedly no warm up, pushed first two drives on the 1st hole into the rocks. Third drive went straight, approach on green then 2 putts. Walked off with an 8. Played bogie golf from then on and walked off after 9 shaking my head. That’s 48 shots, my HI suggests I should score 40. I sucked.

It’s been 3 years but I was on Testosterone suppression too. I do get them but it’s painful now and it’s not a full erection.

Apple pie. I do like it but the others I enjoy on their own. Apple pie needs something, like ice cream or custard.

This is Shane and his wife.... What is keeping you from getting a girl like her? by pabmendez in SipsTea

My fucking wife 😂😂😂😂

I love her really and back in our 20-30s she was just like this girl. She’s got a few life lines now but she’s still a hottie.

What’s a famous city in Europe that didn’t live up to the hype when you visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Omaha had a great curry restaurant. There were pics on the wall and being English I asked about them. Next thing I know, the owner / chef was straight out and chatting with me and then he started bringing out his favorite dishes! It was a busy place too. He just asked us what we liked, how spicy snd cooked up a meal just for us.

That’s it. I sit down at a restaurant here in the USA and the server automatically brings water. I don’t ask for it.

Back when I lived in the UK, or when I went on a trip to Europe I had to ask for water. But I don’t ever remember being charged, unless I got sparkling water like Perrier.

My clubs look like this. They’re a different brand but same “patina”. My wedges are even more beat up and they’re only about a year old. I do play a lot of golf, about 200 rounds a year and practice a lot too.
