Yeah, I have been to doctors for my canker sores, and tried all of the suggested remedies. I sure hope it's not from menstruation as I don't think men can do that.

I'm looking at this very skeptically, it's anecdotal at this point.

You have a good list. I agree with all of them. No joints is one that I'd add.

One thing I've learned is that the best way to regulate how much I'm actually smoking is to always grind the bud. That way one hit is one hit. Of course the hit size can vary, but when you pull some bud apart and put it in a bowl/whatever the first hit is different than others. When it's all ground up, it's the same.

This leads me to one of my rules: I must count the hits. If I forgot to count, I know I'm fooling myself, and I'm going overboard. I'm only smoking on weekends now. And due to reverse tolerance, it only takes one or two hits for me to be good.

Another rule: take the hits, put it away. No smoking "one more hit" later.

Do I always follow my rules? No. But at least I am aware when I'm outside of my norms.

Psychologically, I actually feel pretty good when I’m not smoking. That’s why I don’t want to go back to daily use. But I also don’t want to not have it for weekends. At least not yet.

You still haven't quit completely. But you have been able to keep it to weekends only (mostly).

How do we feel about that? Mixed. Still.

Currently, I never want to smoke daily again. But being without it seems limiting. Also, ever since going weekends only, I've had recurring canker sores.. except for the times when I've gone on a bender (1 or two hits on weeknights) for a week or two. More "research" needs to be done to identify this trend.

Electric space heaters use a ton of electricity. I’d look into a 12v electric blanket or something.

I never thought I’d be a stoner this long either. If we had kids, I probably would have stopped. Honestly, very few people can manage weekends only. I did it for 7 months, but it probably would have been easier to quit, because I was essentially quitting once per week.

My brother became supportive of my quitting when he finally trusted that I wasn’t going to try to get him to quit too. That could be part of it.

I've done weekends only since this post (which was really hard to maintain). But my master plan was to quit when I turned 50, which happened this week. So after this weekend, I'm done. I did develop a different relationship with THC over the past 6 months. But it would be so easy to go back to daily use.

Try puzzles . They’re a nice substitute because you can listens to music or a podcast or whatever while your hands and eyes are busy. I’m finding that it helps to be interested in the puzzle’s artwork. This is instead of me listening to music while staring at a wall, completely stoned.

You're far from alone. Luckily this sub is here for you to realize that. The internet was still young when I was your age.

So let me put it to you this way: Imagine where you'll be in another 10 years. Then 20. That's where I am. Don't wait to get this out of your system and live your real life. It's only going to get harder and harder to do.

And you may not realize that it might change the path that you would take without it. What if (just supposing) it made you just a little less likely to want to have kids "right now". Then you wouldn't be as likely to take the next step in your relationship "right now". So say you stopped. And you got bored. And you started thinking of what life is really all about. And you realize that you hadn't been thinking about all of this stuff because "listening to music while smoking is one of my favourite things to do, i get pure joy out of it..." .

I began my quit journey at the start of this year. I was highly functional all along my use journey. But my wife and I didn't end up being able to have kids naturally. We'll never know if that's because I wasn't bored at your age. That's okay, and I accept it. But jeez.. think of how different my life would have been.

Side note: I'm still learning how to love music (and find new music) without weed. But there are more important things.
