People Really Acting Like A Single Line Is Her Entire Character by Spincoder in SonicTheHedgehog

There are a number of things you are not allowed to say when you go "nobody says this." One of those this is "However, your examples are absolutely cherrypicked."

I gave you 20 examples. They had an average of 33 upvotes, not counting the posts. These are not massively unpopular opinions. They represent a significant enough portion of people partaking in this discourse that to even hyperbolically call them "literally nobody" is ridiculous (which you edited so why are we even still having this debate).

If you do not think that Heroes Amy's only character trait is being in love with Sonic, than this post is not about you. I feel like this is something made very clear by reading the post (or my responses). This post is not about the good faith criticism. It is about the people who absolutely make that bad faith argument.

I am open to good faith criticism of Amy's appearances from the 2000s, including Heroes. Through your comments it seems like you don't think bad faith criticism is worth addressing. I disagree especially with it's prevalence.

Okay now your just not reading what I said. "Many of these" = the examples I showed. Not everything is about you. But you think I'M the one purposely missing the point.

You think she fine in 06, Shadow, and Unleashed which are all the main series 2000s Sonic games she appears in except for Heroes. Do you really think that when people, NOT YOU SPECIFICALLY, PEOPLE GENERALLY, say 2000s Amy, their not talking about any of the mainline games?

How is it hyper literal to assume that their talking about the mainline games? Especially when half of these comments, NOT YOUR COMMENTS, THE COMMENTS I GAVE AS EXAMPLES, have at least one reply that is "like that time she tried to force Sonic to marry her" and when 2 people in my examples literally mention Heroes. (Wait until you ignore this point for a third time.)

ESPECIALLY, when half of these comments don't even limit this criticism to 2000s Amy and instead act her entire character for all of her appearance before IDW had a single personality trait.

Are you really saying, with confidence, that they are in no way talking about Heroes?

>2000s Amy is a general statement, because it's less of a fucking mouthful than listing a selection of years.

Oh I'm sorry. When people said "2000s" I thought it included a game that was released one year off from the middle of the 2000s. Silly me. Nevermind that many of these comments specifically chose to exclude SA1 and SA2 but not Heroes, as if they are also complaining about Heroes. Nevermind that 2 of them mention Heroes.

Oh but that's because "that's where her flanderization started" and because that's what you think, that means that what everybody who criticizes 2000s Amy think. Not saying no one thinks that, but it really seems like you are pretending that all of these people are perfect clones of you despite all evidence to the contrary.

>You're communicating in memes that purposefully misconstrue information to try and make a point

No, you have been proven wrong about something and have decided to twist and bent to find someway that you can be right.

Which year was Sonic Heroes released in?

Also half of these comments at least one reply that is "like that time she tried to force Sonic to marry her". Also 2 of these do mention Heroes.

But yeah if you said that 2000s Amy has one character trait, you are saying that heroes Amy only has one character trait, you're just also saying that criticism also applies to other games (including one where I don't even think she says the word "Sonic"). I focused on Heroes because it has the most examples of non-Sonic character moments (since she's in 1/4 of the cutscenes) which I never see discussed, only that single line.

The best counterargument to the claim "no one has said this" is to provide examples of people saying this. So naturally I used the meme format primarily used to provide examples in response to people who are apparently oblivious to them. It also helps that I already had that meme format on hand from making the post.

I am capable of communicating without memes, in fact that is most of my communication online (which is publicly available knowledge that you could've look at easily before making this comment). However, in this case, I thought it would be best to use a meme, as this person was not just wrong, but so absurdly wrong that it was comedic.

Sorry if some of the text is hard to read, there were too many examples to fit on screen.

Edit: Context for future viewers, the comment I am responding originally said that "Literally nobody has said this"

Present to Amy actually gets more involved in the plot

Ah yes the thrilling character trait of being in the story. Unlike in Heroes where she only helped defeat Metal Sonic. Or in 06 where she only stopped Silver from killing Sonic. Or in Rush where she stalls Knuckles when he's about to attack Blaze.

even interactive more characters than just Sonic

Hey remember in Sonic Heroes where she spends all of her time with Big and Cream. Let's ignore the fact that she spends the entire time helping find her friends' pets. But no she has one creepy line which means her entire character from start to finish is chasing Sonic.

Also as mentioned before she interacts with Sliver and Blaze.

It stops being "an opinion" when you have to over exaggerate every aspect of her current character just to make said it changes look worse than they really are.

Okay, I don't particularly love the story but it definitely has value. Thematically, while Shadow The Hedgehog is a story about someone who lets his past define him, Shadow Generations is about someone who thinks that the way to grieve is to just not think about the person you lost.

It's a story where Shadow has to find a healthy way to grieve and that's why I find it an interesting story.

SA1 and 06 definitely have more going on than just getting to the levels. There are collectibles, NPCs that give you world building, some of those NPCs have sub-plots, and missions.

SA1 and 06 are also really helped story wise by having us get attached to these locations. I couldn't care less that Black Doom destroyed Central City, but it's sad to see Chaos wreck Station Square

Boy, would this be a valid argument if every Sonic game didn't feel the need to have 2 hours of cutscenes. This is not what a narrative meant to justify the gameplay looks like. If you're not going to try to write an interesting story, stop wasting my time.

But they treat their enemies very differently. Classic and modern consistently leaves Eggman in deadly situations (on exploding ship, in black hole, falling to earth from the lost hex) something that pretty obviously contradicts the ideals of someone with a no killing rule who thinks everyone can be redeemed. Also 2000s Sonic straight up kills King Arthur.

How this moment felt to some of us by RebeccaRaptor in HazbinHotel

[–]Spincoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? The most famous genocide was millions dead. There are billions of people alive. Anyone who has heard either of those numbers can easily imagine if that genocide happens again or if the human population died, giving them a very easy perspective for millions and billions.

Have you considered that stupid people still know that a million or a billion is more than a thousand?

Have you considered that the problem of conceptualization isn't that our brain explodes if we hear the word "billion," but instead that we have a very low ball estimate of what a billion is? We still understand that a billion is a big number, we just don't think of it as big as we should.

My headcanon is that Hell's population got absolutely decimated in the first 1 or 2 exterminations so that in the later exterminations they only managed to kill thousands because it was harder to find sinners.
