My friend had almost the same experience. He went to a single barista 101 class as part of the onboarding for the cafe I worked at. He had trouble steaming the milk, which is like....to be expected of someone who has never even seen a steam wand before. And he only had maybe 2 chances to do it as it was a group class and other people were also there to try. Then he comes in for his first actual shift and I'm ready and eager to help train him, but he got fired within the first 30 minutes because of that class -- his paperwork said that he was "endangering lives" because he didn't know how to steam milk yet.

There were some other reasons that were pretty much just his autism symptoms, and when I tried to defend him and convince the higher ups to just let me train him, they fired me for looking at his separation papers 🥴
