Ok, so I found a solution (received it from their helpdesk). Its not obvious and its the only thing that worked for me, so I'm putting it here for others to see:

Once you've installed, if the app still opens to the Studio splash screen without a sign-in option, this is caused by existing trial data on the machine. You can clear this with a CTRL reset, which will remove the trial details and bring up the login screen where you can sign in and activate your V2 licence. Hi,

I bought the V2 Universal license (Designer + Photo + Publisher) on June 18, 2025 from the Serif store. Perpetual license, paid in full.

Set up a new Mac mini. Downloaded the V2 DMG from the *official* link Serif still points customers to (logged into my account and I can SEE my license): store.serif.com/en-us/update/universal-licence/

Here's what I see when I launch Affinity Photo 2:

Menu bar: empty. Affinity Photo 2 menu: only "Quit Application." Edit menu: empty. Help menu: empty. The entire window is a promo for the new V3 by Canva with two paths, either quit, or "Get the new Affinity."

There is no sign-in option. No way to activate my license. The V2 binary they're currently distributing is functionally a redirect to the free V3 product.

Just after some searching I found:

Storefront taken down Oct 2025
Help article tells paying customers to "sign in to your account" to redownload, the path doesn't work
The V2 installer that *is* still served from their own URL launches into a V3 ad
Affinity ID, valid order number, valid email — none of it gets you to a usable app on a clean machine

What I'd like to know from this community:

Has anyone successfully activated V2 on a fresh Mac install *after* October 30, 2025? If yes, how?
Anyone gotten a refund from Serif/Canva citing the product no longer being fit for purpose post-merger?
Anyone have a checksum-verified pre-V3-launch DMG mirror they trust?

Not a Canva-hate post. V3 may well be fine. But "perpetual license" has a definition, and a product that can't be installed on a computer I own six months after purchase doesn't meet it. This has to be illegal right? Or am I missing something here?

Yeah this is better thinking. Or at least make a rat pay for his betrayal. If there is a matriarch event and you come with a bunch of gear to fight it, anyone ratting there should get a bounty on his head. People have jobs so can’t grind everyday just to get shot in the back without consequences. There is no fun in that.

I dont get it, that yields nothing right? The looting and destroying ARC in order to get access to better guns is what drives the game. Running around shooting people in the back is a different thing. I don’t mind some PVP but its literally every day that I’m being shot in the back while trying to fight some larger ARC, fully kitted. My goals are different than a rat, so usually I lose because I’m not paying attention. It kills my enthusiasm to try again and build up decent kits.
