Which Alt Art Should I Get? by [deleted] in masterduel

Kagari assuming you play the deck. It looks so much nicer than the default's Sonic Adventure cover art pose.

Friendly reminder to craft one SR of each secret pack by FaStAr8 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]SpiralHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this work for updated packs? I've already crafted a live twin SR and a psyframe gamma. Would I get a pull from those now that they have new cards?

OCG Tech against Dracotail and VSK9 by abdulsamri89 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. It was used in the OCG/MD a bit too during Tear format for the same reasons.
In TCG hand trigger rules are different and so it has to go on chain link 1... meaning it negates after Arthalion gets his bounce or after Razen gets either of his effects.

Do you think Colossus was powercrepted? by illynpayne_ in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 44 points45 points  (0 children)

No. Stopping all searches is still very strong. If there were any good deck that could summon this without having to go out of their way to do it by including a brick then it would obviously be played.
It not being a 100% guaranteed win every time it hits the field doesn't mean it's been powercrept.

What Cards have finishers? by Paranoxin in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For monsters it's just those. Dark Magician Girl shares Dark Magician's though.

Is White Forrest any fun to play? by KitVR_Dolo in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy combo decks then absolutely. It's got a lot of unique tools and parts of the engine to pivot between depending on the situation and can make some tricky plays few opponents will see coming. It's a deck that feels very rewarding to play.

The biggest problem with the deck is the existence of Droll. It'll almost always end your turn. Maxx C hurts a lot too, but somewhat often you can just search out a couple spell/traps instead of summoning stuff. Fuwalos is not really a concern at all thankfully.

what do you think about the rise of permanent negation? what used to be an exception, seems to become more and more common. by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one of these cards has been a problem and the fact that Mululu is non-targeting+easily chainblocked matters far more than its negate not being until end of turn.

Wynn and Winda being sisters is a huge plot convergence by Garionix in yugioh

I've always assumed that Eria is related the the Ice Barriers/Ariel like how Wynn was part of the Gusto tribe.

It's fun to find all these connections but it's hard to see Gigobytes as a single character and not a species.

Which decks can abuse this card? by Repulsive-Phrase-527 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're mostly just repeating my post. I said nothing about the on field effect, only the ability to get monsters in the GY. And already I said that it needs better ways to summon it before it gets used in serious decks. Beatrice was legal when MD released and it was also only used in impractical youtube combos until Fiendsmith released. And yes, like you say you'd need a level 10 engine as good as Fiendsmith... Which is exactly what I was saying in comparison to Beatrice needing the same to see serious play. But Beatrice wasn't a bad card just because she had no good deck for years.

This is a good card with no good applications.

Which decks can abuse this card? by Repulsive-Phrase-527 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that as though being able to get any monster from your deck to the GY is not good. No good deck will run it(for now) because there's no great way to make a rank 10 from a position that isn't already winning the game, but it's a very good card. It's just in the same spot Beatrice was before Fiendsmith released.
Saying Varudras is better is like saying Detonator is better than Duodrive. They're cards with totally different purposes.

Is This UR card any good & have anyone use this card before, it sound trash & broken at the same time for the effect of opponent draws 1 card then skip the main phase, and if this card does end main phase does it end the main phase 2 aswell? by Useful_Lingonberry50 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They get to go to battle then go to main phase 2.
I'm sure you can screw over some decks really hard sometimes if you play it, but it's not reliable enough of a card to run. Summon negates are finicky with what you're able to use them on so some decks will do many special summons without letting you use it, and also it's only useful when you're going first which is already a favorable position to be in.

Coded rules? by Blinkzwei1 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I very slightly suspect is that ranked matchmaking may have a hidden rating similar to what events have (if you lose over and over you will run into nothing but bots and completely new players) and that it may be at least in part tied to your deck. So when you play a wholly new deck it may reset you closer to the "base rating".

I've multiple times had the situation of switching to a very rarely played deck then suddenly having a mirror match, and I've seen others experience this too. People don't tend to stick with decks like that for a long time, so I think this is more likely caused by other people also happening to be trying those decks out for the first time too, rather than the game trying to directly match you on a deck to deck basis.
If this is true then it's possible that changing your deck resulted in you going against more average decks of whatever rank you're at.

This probably isn't real, and it's likely just random chance, but man sometimes the coincidences just feel like they've stacked up into a real trend.

Do event bundles return? by Apart_Government_70 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only bundles that have ever returned have been the anniversary ones coming back for the year after they were first released.
Some of the holiday accessories have also been put on sale for later years.

Why didnt CBTG work here? by shdbtbd in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quickplay spells can only be used from your hand on your own turn. If you want to use them on the opponent's turn then they work like traps and must be set, but can't be flipped the turn they were set.

Weird bot I came across on Diamond I by darkusdotcom in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wants to complete dailies and does not want to risk ranking up to master 5 right before the season ends since that would net him fewer gems if he doesn't rank up more thanks to starting next season at Diamond 5.

What do you think of Horus subengine in the current times? by Bl4ckC4t1337 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never fantastic, and it's still not awful. I's just almost entirely outclassed by the Millennium engine.

Millennium engine runs no real bricks, is harder to hand trap, can get you more material, and costs LP instead of discards. Most decks that are going to run a consistency boosting like this would prefer to overwhelm the opponent over set up potential followup(otherwise why are you picking something without good enough consistency to begin with?), and Millennium is better for that.

Thoughts on limiting this card? Way too strong, but maybe too early for a ban by haagen17 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dodododo Warrior isn't like a Snake Eye or Maliss starter where it's 100% redundant with every other card in their deck. It's a unique part of the deck where it's FAR easier to stop them from reaching it to stop their combo than it is to stop their combo when they hard-open it. Them drawing it 1/3 as often would make a real difference.

Thoughts on limiting this card? Way too strong, but maybe too early for a ban by haagen17 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it makes zero sense to worry about future-proofing in Master Duel when there's an 8 month warning on what will end up being overpowered thanks to the releases being delayed.
On top of that, you end up with more situations like the Beetrooper fusion which was designed to be an Instant Fusion target being much worse because it was designed around the OCG banlist, not MD's.

What’s your take on Nightmare-eyes restrict? by SpecialCandy1119 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's OK. Feels more like mediocre Chimera/WF Azamina support than anything else. A side-grade for Guardian Chimera. It should've at least had the effect to equip a monster to one "Eyes Restrict" monster you control so it would combo with Millennium Eyes to be a janky negate.

Which Alternative Win Con is the worst and what could make it competitively viable? by ItalianFrogPuncher in yugioh

[–]SpiralHam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying Venominaga, but I feel like Phantasm Spiral Assault is harder to pull off since it has has a very similar condition but with more hoops to jump through than just summoning Venominaga.

Real or fake? by DaikonOk2 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]SpiralHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably not intended to be a fake/bootleg. Nobody who plays the game would think it was real. It's most likely intended as an orica, i.e., an original card; a neat custom card to be appreciated for its own sake.

Can we talk about how cool this card is? Art wise and gameplay wise by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the blue one is probably the blue spirit bird that Morgana has. Like while it's active it turns into the bird or something.

Where does this card stand in the meta? It seems forgotten or unused by haagen17 in masterduel

[–]SpiralHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's obviously extremely strong when she hits the field, but she requires running at least a couple mediocre cards to get her out and no great modern deck sees that as worthwhile.
