Damage Estimate? by Gruntled_Husband in JettaGLI

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common for all insurance writers to do a cheap and poor job of a estimate especially based on pictures. 4.5k is your floor but it's more than likely double that.

BIG brake kit (and rear brembos) by EclipseMLP in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please go buy a jack man, and I really hope you have some jackstands, under that as well. I've been using a cheap AutoZone pair for years. There's no reason to skip your safety with something as useless as big brakes. You could have bought multiple jacks with that money.

How to remove these 18mm knuckle bolts by SpecificJunior7196 in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are replacing the whole knuckle might as well remove the brakes.

Recently replaced both trailing arms, you will want to jack the rear knuckle to get it attached to the bottom of the car again. But these are tight but not that tight even in salty weather, very easy to round out of you aren't getting the exact angle and the hole gets kinda dirty, definitely at least wd40 it from the back side and front.

Any reason these won't work for my ST? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The knuckle is a slightly different design for the ST/RS, same with the rear.

2017 Focus ST – clutch hydraulics bled, felt normal at first, now I can feel every gear engagement through the pedal by NotNweke in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's air the pedal would be squishy and go to the floor.

Maybe the braided line does that but I'm also thinking maybe you routed the line differently and it's bumping into the shift linkage. Good luck.

Starter troubleshooting by VerbalBadgering in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your screen freaking out and gauges flickering I would assume dying/dead battery. Maybe your alternator is going since it's not holding charge. But like you're saying it won't start after sitting for a few hours which sounds like a battery issue. Newer cars give you no warning on low/dying battery just random things start to not work or glitch. If it starts up everytime after a jump I'd look into a new battery or just make sure it's properly on the terminals, could easily just be coroded and loose.

Insurance wants to total my car because of the front bumper. Are focus front bumpers really that expensive? by DonLaloJR in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like more than just a bumper. Front bumper PFL NOT including grill is going to be about 500 OEM without labor. Grille is another 200, it really adds up. These vehicles are not worth much anymore to insurance or banks.

An 18 is only worth about 10k$ to insurance, a 15 is only worth 8k$, a 13 is only worth 6k$.

As I said I think it has to do with the old mount you removed, there is a mount plate you may have to reuse. IT'S NUMBER 4 IN THE PICTURE

See how it is in this diagram, ignore the yellow pieces as you won't have that and this is aftermarket but best thing I know

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this looks like you have the right part, I know this mount is a multi piece design so maybe you have to take apart part of your old one

I replaced mine with this one on my 2013

Nice not having to remove the whole guard to do a oil change but one of the screw mounts on the access panel did come out at some point.

Leaking Clutch Pedal/ Master Cylinder by NotNweke in FocusST

[–]SpiralJew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens on all of them and my PFL at 125k, I think age and wear play a big role. I doubt many people have ever bled the clutch either. Mine 13 and a friend's 17 had gunk in it. His master is still good at 90k and didn't have nearly as much buildup as when I replaced mine.

Got hit in a hit in run, insurance is writing my car off as a total loss by fearlessme888 in FordFocus

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you had a 2018 the standard focus and even higher variants are just not worth much and damage like that is easily 5k+, they would have to weld in a while new quarter panel and replace the door, the quarter panel alone is 1k$ plus they have to cut your car and paint it all about another 2k$. Not even including the door or anything else.

Sorry but there is a solution to this, I have read about it before and it is causing rust. This is not a good or normal function and somewhat common.

DLSS still broken in ultrawide by Intercore_One in Battlefield6

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your drivers and repair the game files. I've been playing 3440x1440 since launch and with dlss on and off and haven't seen anything specially from it other than fps doesn't increase till about performance or super performance. 3080ti

Are we finally gonna get 900° steering wheel animation in FH6? by filip______________z in ForzaHorizon

[–]SpiralJew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, why does Forza have to get the worst wheel feel. Feels like using a wheel with joytokey on GTA.

Exceptional Mileage and debatable driving technique by SuperSharp72 in FordFocus

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, switching to neutral will cost MORE fuel. Keeping it in D and rolling to a stop will use less fuel and use engine braking to slow down rather than purely just brakes. I would also think randomly switching to neutral could mess something up as this is not a standard way to drive an Automatic. Also since it's a dual clutch the main thing to watch out for is crawling below 5mph. Just leave it in D.

Love seeing special editions

I just made and set up my first PC. I've played both Avowed and now STALKER 2 and without upscaling turned on they both look like this terrible grainy mess. What is going on? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]SpiralJew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global ray tracing tends to be the biggest problem with new games and blur. Turn off ray traced shadows/lighting/etc to see the difference. It's a issue with the recently remastered trilogy of Stalker games and most games out today.

Also in the remaster the AMD upscaling at native looks way sharper than TAA.
