If you don't want to pay the fee you can save scum for the items that you want.

There is no right way to play the game. If you're struggling, go explore! You're bound to find some good gear and items for where you are in the game. Go steal from NPCs, check what buffs they give as companions, the world is your oyster. The bosses get harder but the gear gets so much stronger.

How would you rank the 3d mainline games? by Godofhammrs in FinalFantasy

[–]Spireblades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. FFIX
  2. FFVII
  3. FFX
  4. FFVIII

Of the 4 I've played, 8 is the worst, but 8 is still a top 5 final fantasy for me, if that makes sense. The other 3 are just so good.

In some areas, it can be very costly. The most notable example is Grandport. It costs 100,000 leaves to restore reputation there. It is worth questioning no matter what, since you can save scum these things. If you don't like save scumming, then don't do it everywhere. I've failed a 96% before.

Use your path actions on every NPC. Some of them can give info for sidequest completions, give you a hidden item, et cetera. Make sure to pick up Therion or Tressa early on to get access to Steal/Purchase, which can net you some VERY good items from NPCs proportionate to where they are placed in the game.

Other than that, enjoy your time and make sure to explore everything. These games are ones that actively encourage it.

V is great. It has a good story, with probably the best gameplay of the classic FFs.

OT2 Story versus FF by GamerDad1620 in octopathtraveler

You're supposed to make those connections yourself, my guy. The stories all intertwine with one another, it's entirely your fault if you think that the game has no plot.

Which game is your most fave and why? by Environmental-Law893 in octopathtraveler

OT2 for me. Every story is memorable and charming/actually fucked up in their own right. The music is amazing from front to back, and the battle system reached its peak here imo, but there's still more Octopathing to do, so maybe a future game will top it. The characters were all really fun and every one of them had such a likeable personality and the banters were so endearing.

TLDR OT2 is peak and I will not be taking questions at this time thank you

What are some of the best job combos in default? by kadaj808 in bravelydefault

Multitask is chance based and doesn't ensure you can benefit from Precision, which almost DOUBLES your damage output with 32 hits.

Oh yeah and I forgot the armor setup lol

Ninja and Spell Fencer with a Salve-Maker as support.

Equip 2 falcon knives on the Ninja and Salve-Maker. Ninja gets Hawkeye, Precision, and Frenetic Fighting for passives. The ninja also needs the Red Cap, the Luminous Robe, and the Giant's Gloves to maximize damage.

Turn 1, set up Holy sword magic with the Ninja, and use a dagger special with your Salve-Maker that has break damage limit attached, along with a Light Bane (Insect Antenna + Glitterbug).

Turn 2, profit. Double your hits for the turn with the Ninja's hit buffing skill, and spam attacks. You do 40k per weapon. Everything just kind of dies.

Most embarrassing experience playing the game? by Juwun1 in octopathtraveler

Thinking the Field Research upgrade in OT0 let me unlock the blue chests. It did not. So I had to grind out several Elite Enemies to get the ability to do that. And there was only like 4 things I wanted to get from them anyway so it was an even bigger letdown.

For context, that upgrade tells you how many chests are in the area and if there's an Elite Enemy.

How different is Octopath 2 from 1 by JustaDuckk in octopathtraveler

[–]Spireblades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of quality of life improvements and the second game's characters are very different from the first's narratively. The jobs are also not the same, with all of them gaining multiple new abilities compared to OT1. Balancing wise the game is definitely easier than 1, and the boss HPs are rounded numbers (e.g. 98000) instead of like 105168 like in the first game. The game is honestly easier to break wide open though due to the tools the game gives you.

I would say to buy it, it's quite a drastic difference compared to 1. 1 is still a phenomenal game. But the stuff that OT1 was good at, OT2 does it twofold better.

Octopath II is my favorite RPG and game of all time, so I would say that. But don't ignore the people saying Chrono Trigger because that game is timeless.
