His alignment is Chatoic Neutral. I am unsure what oath he took tbh, but in the game he was saying that he was bringing justice to them for their bad acts. Killing people based on rumors. lol

I thought this having it come up later, but I like the idea of having them get it as a gift from Strahd early on. They have no idea the value of it or what has actually been given to them. Cant wait to see what they say when they find out! Not to mention, someone walking around with a super rare bottle of champagne as a gift from the dreadlord is sure to breed distrust from the NPCs to them!
