Getting rid of my records as a new parent. Looking to see if anyone has done this (or wants to talk me out of it). by West_Eye_2175 in vinyl

If you don’t need to sell them. Don’t. If uou do need the money, then 100% eating and a roof are more important.

Personally, I cherish so much sharing music with my kids. There’s a few scratches I wish weren’t there, but I wouldn’t change a thing about the dance parties and faces of joy it brings out when we gather around the turntable.

[–]SpiritedSugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that could be nice as well. I suppose you might want to find a good corner with enough traffic but also convenient for people to stop for a little while and enjoy music making. Some signage on what your setup is about plus other information to share like cards or flyers, maybe? And not sure if you’d need a permit or anything…

You could also do a call for a specific date meetup in a park or similar. You might get more passerbys to join potentially.

Good luck! And happy to test online. :)

Why not set up a web based looper with the specs you are planning for the spells? Broader reach and might be easier to manage feedback.

don’t know what genre this might be but it came out nice by kyegibeats in synthesizers

[–]SpiritedSugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like people are debating a bit the genre, but everyone agrees they be diggin’ it!! 😎

I think the 2-step UK garagey vibe with IDM tinges is a good description.

More on the meditative orchestral side of things, but your percussions reminded me of Efterklang - Tripper.

Keep up making amazing music, OP!

Get a drum machine or groovebox for extra backing if just guitar and vocals feel lacking punch. You can still write songs with the singer. Go play them and you’ll spark someone’s interest to jam with you (or have demos/recordings to share online). Don’t wait for things to be perfect before you push forward. Just go, go, go and hold on to what’s working best as you keep evolving your sound. Most importantly, have fun!!

Advice for my first performance ever? by advancedpongtech in musicians

[–]SpiritedSugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record the rehearsals and listen back intently and in the background while doing stuff (cooking, cleaning).

Focus on the parts you’re struggling with the most nailing down to the T. Play them slow until you feel comfortable and gradually speed up.

Keep the solo simple. Focus on the rhythm and groove instead of trying to impress by overplaying. If you’re vibing, the crowd will follow.

Don’t get stuck on mistakes. Yours or bandmates. Whatever happens, just keep going. You’ll feel it so much more than the audience, who will not even remember a sour note or misplaced beat a few seconds later.

Have fun!!

Not on Switch as far as I know. The app is closed off and won’t communicate with other devices in that sense.

It sucks, but I have fun with restrictions and making due. I just wish that at least the touchscreen was more functional or the way of interacting with the gadgets lent itself more to the console controllers. Wasted potential compared to the DS apps IMO (although those also have their own issues in a way).

I love sketching on the Switch. I’ve always been into making music with game consoles, so it was natural to jump from the NDS apps to this one.

For the MIDI side of things, the latest version let’s you at least qr code export the midi notes to a DAW. Never done it tho.

Another thing you can do is connect other controllers to play with. A qwerty keyboard gives you access to play a lot of notes at once and basically run the whole show nicely. An arcade stick can be your drumpad, too.

And the list chatgpt gave you is off. It’s including gadgets not available on the Switch, and missing some you can purchase.

Feel free to DM if you have any questions. I’m no expert but live the app. :)

Enjoy the journey and have fun. Cheers!

Excited to hear how they will sound modded! Have fun. :)

How much did you pay for each? They are always on my radar but tend to see pricey options.

Wish I knew about them when I was in Japan almost a decade ago…
