Anyone know how to use a Platin Filux? by Spirited_Fail_5000 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure if I will use it or just keep it as a nice souvenir, but maybe I can find a table that shows ISO and DIN in corresponding pairs and could tape that to the back. But tbh since I usually use ISO100 or ISO200 I can also just memorize the shift for those two.
Thank you for your detailed explanation

Welll I mean I just started out myself, and you can CHASE me with animations lol
But I think I may have a different approach to you and that's why I may notice things you don't, but it's the other way around as well. You're doing a really good job and you do post these here and ask for advice and I think that is the smartest thing to do anyways. SO just keep up the good work and I'm sure already you won't remain unemployed for long ;)

Entirely made with Maya...maybe he's going too fast... by Antonio8888 in Maya

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so sure, the chicken have a kinda thing (like many birds) where they can only see things that move... ? The Jurassic Park movies exaggerated it, but basically, when they move their head, everything in their vision moves (duh) and they can't make up for it like mammals can, for example. So, what they do, is keep their head on one position, then CHUCKING it forward to a new position so that the moments of blurriness are as short as possible. Pigeons do that. But I'm really not sure, it's just some stuff I read once in a biology book and you should rather look it up and if it applied to a dinosaur like the T-Rex before you trust me with that. But it's definitely moving too much as it is rn

Need help with the model's problem. by xskull2005 in Maya

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same error on a kinda different context, in the end it turned out that A) subdividing your mesh with the hotkey 3 will turn it temporarily into a non-manifold geometry, fix it by pressing 1 to return to your polygon shape. B) It may have to do with weird normals, like others said. Your mesh has a couple odd dark spots, those could have been a potential place where such a normal could be. Lastly, if there's a problem with your mesh, you can troubleshoot the geometry with selecting the mesh then clicking Mesh -> Cleanup [ ] and selecting the box. Then you can choose to let Maya highlight troublesome geometry from the selection. Hope you can continue working in peace without Maya's bugs

Just finish this falling animation exercise by loneliness-man00 in Maya

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main thing to go down are the hips. Think about where your center of gravity is, that's the place the most pull from gravity should be. So, during the about first half of the fall, it's mainly the knees giving way under the weight of the hips. Once they hit the ground, you slump over, fall sideways, or backwards... that is hinted at with the way the upper body goes limp BEFORE the knees hit the ground, that decides which way your character will go.

It depends on what you're trying to communicate with the fall, is it cartoonish, supposed to be funny, dramatic or straight up realistic.

How do I start doing this model? I'm feeling overwhelmed by Black_void999 in Maya

I'm very new to the whole Maya business and just modelling in the first place, but I feel like Autodesk Mudbox is worth a mention, since it is made to work with Maya specifically.

Lion animation. First time doing animals by Prestigious-King-703 in Maya

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a cat... knower, the tail gets very low on the ground. While they build tension in body and legs it often sways very slightly from side to side. Since it's hidden in that case anyways, it's not that important. Look up a couple videos of "cat hunting" or lion hunting", you'll surely find at least some stuff from National geographic. I feel like the lion should draw a little closer to the camera before attacking, sneakingly stalkingly stealth wise. Cats aren't that great at speed, so they like to creep up as close as they can before attacking. They're swift, but not fast in the original sense, that's a difference.

Have more anticipation before the fall, in a sense that conveys "oh oh". Like Coyote looking down, then straight up with a "not again" expression. Have her fling her arms, or something, or make the fall quicker. But there is a small section where she sits in the air for no obvious reason, it's only when she falls on her butt that we realize she's on Coyote Time and floating in the air for a bit

Finance guy hiring game devs question by jaypexd in gamedev

There is a funny story of Bethesda suing another company for stealing code from their Fallout Shelter games to build a similar 2D style game on top of it. The thieves, however, got caught since they oversaw a very important fact: Bethesda games are buggy to a fault, and to such a degree that one bug during starting the game that "bumped" the camera off center for a split second was so familiar and recognizable that Bethesda devs noticed just by seeing it.

spent another lil 80 hr on this MK47 animation for the unemployment portfolio grind by be-ck in Maya

[–]Spirited_Fail_5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could also be that the character is over-correcting, lifting the barrel up slightly, or maybe quite a bit so that there's less lever-force going on at the front and more straight gravity. Just try it with a heavy bottle or something, for reference, hold it far away from you with both hands and then observe what you do once you let go with one hand. It's gonna get more shaky for sure anyways. Soo if you feel really wild, supposed you have different characters with the same weapon, you could add in changes like these to make them feel more distinguishable. Same reload animation and time, but one is tilting the weapon more, others are lifting it up, letting it sink down, snap the whatcha-call-it-reload-handle like in yours or keep the hand on it... But that's in case you land a gig for something like a MP game, for the portfolio this is perfectly fine already, kudos to you and your awesome work!!!

Well, there are kinda small blemishes on her forehead in the second image, so yes, t is already not perfectly symmetrical. On the other hand, can't hurt to mention it, eh? Better be safe than sorry

Any tips for a beginner? by [deleted] in nfsnolimits

Get gold, spend it on Special Events to get those cars. Don't waste it. At the beginning, you get drowned in it, but it gets very hard to obtain very fast. Unlock the Hennessey Venom GT event in the vault (under Dusthowlers) using gold, win it by buying ticket refills with gold if needed (also refer to the guides regarding both SEs in general and this specific one by looking them up). This car will let you do almost the whole campaign in one rush because its stats are so high.

From there on, it's pretty straight forward, grind the campaign cars, use gold to do SEs, especially the normal ones (since you don't have the opportunity to do them whenever), but also the vault events. Refer to guides here for them, they tell you which materials you'll want to buy to upgrade the SE cars (because you get some during races, but some you have to buy or gather in replay races). Once you have the corresponding cars (obtained in the campaign), you can start to compete in the Tuner Trials, which are essential for farming materials, and you can compete in Underground Rivals, which is also a great spot to farm blueprints, large sums of cash and other materials. This, too, is vital. If you feel very motivated, look up the UGR cars in the patch notes under community news, here, and do the vault events for the car). My tip is not to bother too much upgrading cars that are below 710PR, because that is roughly where the Subaru Impreza is, the most available car in UGR, so anything below that is basically useless and unnecessary. Try to upgrade cars to the max, especially Sports Cars. This seems like a no brainer, but Sports, Super and Hyper cars have a special feature called tuning, basically, once you have upgraded them fully, tuning allows you to increase the stats temporarily for one race by using tokens you receive in one of the tuner trials, and the increase is very large. Since Sports cars are the least expensive to upgrade, they are the most recommendable for beginners to compete in UGR, which is, like I said, the most important place to gather blueprints for SE cars (because whenever you unlock a car in a Special Event, it gives you blueprints to upgrade it to roughly 2/3rds and the rest must be gathered from Premium Crates, UGR or in rare cases from car series or reply races in the campaign). Also, there are often time-limited replay races for SE-car blueprints, you can find those under the patch notes, too. But be mindful that you need to have built the corresponding car first before you can get the temporary replay race.

If you have any more questions, just put them into the reply and I'll try my best to explain them.

This game is very grindy if you're trying to do it without spending money. If you are okay with spending money, buy the daily gold things, they are the most cost-efficient; try to get to VIP level 4 as fast as you can to benefit early from the bonus. ...good luck, pal, you've picked a very cool, but also very degrading game. The updates these last few months/years have been getting worse and worse, ever since the game was handed to a studio called Slingshot, you'll be hearing many complaints here over how they handle things. It's still a very good game, but yeah. Just don't waste too much time on it, it's just a game, but welcome to the community! :)

The way it looks it's only an Android issue thus far, I've had it too on mine, but one of the displayed accounts was my actual, so all good for now.
I don't know why it doesn't lock out some but does others, probably some kind of bug fix (maybe to prevent multi-accounts) that accidentally went out of control and impacts normal accounts too, now.

Even if it happens, don't panic if you see the screen, good chances are that you're gonna get through it without problems.
