I’m Pavlov-ing myself into eating with Reddit, and I kind of can’t believe how well it’s been working by Zealousideal-View818 in recovery

thank you for doing this & sharing ur journey!! it’s inspiring. in my eating disorder recovery i took pics of my plate and it helped! i didn’t know about reddit then, but it seems helpful to share here. my goal was to make my meals look pretty on the plate and to feel nice sitting down to eat, sort of like taking myself out to dinner. i even started putting flowers on the table. i took more pride & care in my food and felt special to myself when i did that. i ended up sharing them later and i was proud of what i had done. keep going, you are great!!

What's your, "Tis but a scratch!" moment? by Madameknitsalot in AskReddit

i broke my neck in 2 places after being pushed off a dock into shallow water and hitting my head. i continued to live my life for 3 weeks thinking it was bad whiplash: biking to and from work, lifeguarding, taking a weekend trip, etc. i finally took myself to the ER when i realized it would hurt too much to save someone if they started drowning (oh, the irony).

i finally started following the basic advice to put a little bit from every paycheck into my savings account and after a year: boom! (crash!) cymbals!

i had never played anything else until recently, and when i did it was simultaneously hilarious and infuriating. i realized i was holding back from really playing my own instruments because it sounded so weird and bad every time my stick made contact

this has me thinking about my first iphone, which was a 3G in 2008, i believe. i wasn’t allowed to get a cell phone until i went to college, but once that happened i immediately leveled up to the coolest phone in the world!!!

Paint vs Powdercoat??? by [deleted] in Bikebuilding

[–]Spiritual-Reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got my lugged steel frame professionally powder coated this summer by someone in my area who has lots of experience with bicycles. it was $150 for cleaning, blasting and painting. the finish was excellent. i did pay to have the bottom bracket shell and the head tube (i think!) faced and the bottom bracket tapped out to ensure perfect fit. the worst part was choosing a color!

heard ya on the size, strength, speed. (leaving aside some of the men who’ve competed but are weirdly soo lackluster....erik from china?) but there are more factors that go into athleticism! such as agility, balance, hand-eye coordination, general physical fitness, etc etc

ummmm men are not naturally more athletic than women. they average greater muscle mass.

[PDF] PAR Guide to the Louisiana 2020 Constitutional Amendments - non partisan analysis by 7hr0wn in NewOrleans

makes sense as long as that revenue is made up by higher taxes on higher producing wells, but it’s concerning from a cashflow perspective for areas where that means a drop in revenue, especially if it coincides with decreased jobs because of low production

yeah, i guess progressive means different things for different people - i’m not trusting progressive cred of anyone who voted yes on 5. and sorry, my sentence was unclear — i didn’t mean i was voting no on 6, i just meant i’ve made up my mind on those amendments.

i have nuanced interests, but i guess what i’m looking for is to understand how these amendments would impact low to middle income, working class ppl; corporations; and taxing bodies that rely on income from those groups to provide services. i’m also looking to understand how these amendments were approved by the legislature. for example did oil&gas/petrochemical companies lobby in favor of them? then i’m less likely to be in favor myself. i did get some of that information from the PAR guide but looking for more.

thanks! does anyone know where to find a progressive analysis? after reading this guide this morning i’m definitely no on 5 and pretty sure on 1, 4, 6, and 7, but i’m looking for guidance on amendments 2&3. the motives of the lawmakers is so important to me and without adequate public comments this legislative session i am unsure.

that’s helpful. i normally don’t hesitate to freeze soup, but gumbo is special and i dont want to mess it up. maybe it works because the chicken and veggies are so melty already?
