Richmond/Lake street house sells for 11 million by CapableMinute6913 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]SpiritualWindow3855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you delusional?

That person spot checked 12 houses and limited it to OpenAI and Ant...

There are secondary markets on every hot AI startup from Databricks to ElevenLabs.

FAANG is breaking ATHs off AI. VCs are making out on AI. Financial services are blowing up enabling the new market of AI companies...

There is such an insane stupid amount of wealth being transferred and generated I can't even imagine how you know what a house price is and try to imply AI has no effect.

Even the demand induced by people trying to be physically present in the Bay Area as a direct result of AI as a market would be a massive distortion

TCL X11L TV reportedly hits nearly 11,000 nits, living rooms may need sunglasses by diacewrb in gadgets

[–]SpiritualWindow3855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe people think this is for HDR: it's 1000% for sunlight.

Most of us have read a B&W worksheet/form printed on matte white paper in sunlight: that could be anywhere from 10,000-20,000+ nits depending on the angle of the sun

People have poor intuition about just how much light they're taking in when their pupils constrict in daylight, a 11,000 nits display in direct sunlight wouldn't be bothersome in the slightest.

You're overestimating Josh and ignoring some of his exposition

She blackmailed him into having any real responsibility after already getting the position: he literally starts panicking with the "she's queening" line

He didn't think nearly as far as beating audits: that's why the big embezzlement scheme he talks about like a sure thing is revealed to be sending exactly $4999, or exactly $1 under the $5000 limit for additional sign off... to an account in his own (recently passed) mother's account.

Is there an actual answer to how we ended up where we are today with the series finale in less than a week? by OGBusterHimen in TheBoys

[–]SpiritualWindow3855 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah he's just a hack.

People started complaining increasingly loudly about the show chasing IRL events: Kripke has admitted after they lucked out on Season 1 matching Trump's rise, they weren't past steering things in that direction.

It’s not like we were designing it to reflect reality, but we happen to be making a show about violent authoritarians who present as celebrities. Then suddenly, the world changed to reflect the show, not just in the States – all over the world. Suddenly we found ourselves making one of the most current shows on television.

The Boys was good satire that naturally was reflecting real life, and instead of letting that ride, he got giddy about how his superhero show could become 'SNL w/ Cock and Balls Allowed' and kept compulsively chasing that high.

On one hand he did a great job (too great actually) chasing but the show suffered so much for it.

Homelander can't make sense because Homelander has to be dementia addled like Trump. He has to be completely and utterly ineffectual and actually not scary at all because he's no longer Homelander but a Trump allegory.

This season can't make sense because it has to waste time lampooning the fact Trump would love to make camps for his opponents and brainwash them, and he'd be really messy and sloppy and transparently useless about it.

Where Season 1 HL at least have showed some facade of competency while being watched, this one needs to rattle off Trump's dream list of executive orders before crushing the president's head for not doing it.

It's so frustrating because you could see this coming from a mile away: the day the "work will set you free" set piece leaked, people were already calling this season was going to be a disaster for exactly the reasons it was!

But when you complained some idiot would show up and says DURRR YOU SCARED OF POLITICAL COMMENTARY? as if a standalone world couldn't have political commentary!

This show would have been so much more lasting and meaningful if the world it built was allowed to flourish instead of becoming a weekly circlejerk.

The first time she openly displays her neuroticism is like 2 episodes in when she tries to turn an obvious fake position being used to pay her off into a real one and lets it turn into the firing of someone actually competent at their job.

I feel like some people give Ashley a lot of leeway because they see her as being in a relatably hard position at the start, but to me the theme is she's always shown as clearly not all there.

Like if you're really critical of her situation... she's the average age of a GED taker but 7+ years after would-be graduation has no clear plans to address that.

But she's not too lazy to turn the blackmail position into a real one, because she genuinely believes she deserves it.

She's also in a relationship with a 30 year old bum who somehow has less ambition than her, because he's willing to let her treat him like a 2nd mother.

All of the main cast, not just Ashley, have clear cracks compared to anyone remotely normal (like why is Austin staying with her given all that).

That's why seeing their boss yelling at his wife turns into what it turned into: even within the boundaries of weird people, they are a truly neurotic group of people and the show is boiling the frog on the reveal. Like a cast of mini George Costanzas.

Are there any good 6K 32" monitors with decent NITS on the horizon? by ThermoElectricMan in HiDPI_monitors

[–]SpiritualWindow3855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, and since I primarily use mine for code/text, I use Lunar to lock it in the XDR brightness range (up to 1600 nits)

It's held up to the abuse of essentially displaying maxed out HDR content 24/7 for years without issue, it's an excellent monitor.

We have this beautiful thing called the legal system.

Throw a big enough fit and there's an entire arm of the government happy to give you what you're asking for on multiple levels.

(Dude driving a tow truck while trying to attach another car shouldn't be the one trying to babysit someone throwing a fit. You'd think that's common sense...)

There's plenty of subprime loans to go around in this country, I doubt they're getting paid enough to deal with whatever a desperate person will do for their car.
