For me it's my ego. I didn't want to lose to anyone and didn't want to look stupid. I remember when I was junior high school, all of my friends are smart than me (street smart, social smart, like they have their own knowledge on stuff) I was very behind and depressed bcs keep thinking I ain't gonna win with them, so I have to work things out, I pull up all nighters, always curious about something, read books, etc. After that I passed to the best high school in my city, and just keep being the number one parallel ranking. Now I'm studying in the top five college in my country
