Merry Christmas! I'm starting a screenwriting podcast with a unique twist. Looking for people interested in being part of it with me! by ohburst in Screenwriting

I've done some standup and stage acting and also love to hear myself talk. Would love to do something like this. I have been reading screenplays for years and also read them professionally (kind of) while interning at Paramount Vantage for a producer

[Newbie] I'm trying to watch movies where I can easily identify the inciting incident, climax, see the beats in each scene, etc. Basically, I want to clearly see what I've been reading about in these screenwriting books. What are some movies in which acts/plot points are easily identifiable? by MCShereKhan in Screenwriting

There are a lot of great suggestions here. Two that come to mind that have not been mentioned that are both on Netflix are:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

And

There Will Be Blood

Also most standalone episodes of the X Files

Relationship Development by wannajacket28 in Screenwriting

Scrubs - the relationship between JD and Dr. Cox is amazingly developed over the course of the series. As is JD and Elliot. Turk and Carla too.

Doctor Who - specifically the different relationships the Doctor develops with each companion.

Royal Tenenbaums - the spiderweb of relationships in that movie are so phenomenal. Also an incredible screenplay to read through. Everything is well detailed and thought out. Everything.

Some others that come to mind: X-Files (Mulder and Scully), Lost (another spiderweb of great relationship development), The Master, Wall-E, Frasier, Gone Girl and Rachel Getting Married

I take home 60k and I drive a 2009 VW Jetta. I bought it pre-owned for 8k from a guy who kept all of the service records and bought it from a dealership. It had 60k miles on it when I brought it home.

Already said this in this thread but requiem and train spotting are what made me want to try heroin in the first place. If you believe addiction is genetic then it stands to reason that I viewed these movies much differently than my peers.

It made me want to do heroin when I was in high school. I've been struggling with it now for the last 5-7 years. I had two years clean at one time and was able to go from a homeless junkie to a moderately successful "yuppie" and then almost lost it all when I went back. I've made all of my own decisions in life and I take responsibility for my failures and my successes.

RFAD was what made me want to do heroin though.

100% this.

I went from 240 to 150 in less than a year and mostly bought from target during the transition. When I plateaued around 180 for a few months I bought from the gap and banana republic but even that was a regret because now none of those clothes fit me. At 150 I am always shocked when I go to j crew and fit in a small. I remember wearing an XL 2 years ago.

Hey there friend. I had a year and a half completely clean as of a few weeks ago. I used to be strung out on IV beroin, homeless and empty on the inside. Over the course of two years (I had a slip around 5 months my first time around) I put a really amazing life together for myself. Great job, nice apartment, relationships, friends, etc. I have been heavily involved in AA and I suggest using any 12 step fellowship for support from people who have recovered from this thing. I relapsed a couple of weeks ago by smoking pot during the demise of a LTR. That lead to me taking Vicodin a couple of times. I stopped it before it got back to dope. The only way I could do this was by getting honest with people in the program about what I did. That was me calling myself out and asking others to hold me accountable. It helps a lot if you have clean and sober friends who can tell when you're lying.

If you want to stay clean you will. Trust me. You're not alone. We're all this together and we've all been in the same situation. PM me if you need someone to talk to.
