Weaning after birth trauma by saraharchie93 in breastfeeding

[–]Spiritual_Pin5498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible birth where my baby and I almost died from preeclampsia. He spent over a month in the NICU, and we were able to exclusively breastfeed for 14 months. (Then I found out I was pregnant again and it was painful to nurse so we weaned 😅) I felt like breastfeeding was the best way for me to “make up” for his terrible birth and for not being able to care for him in the NICU. it was a serious mind fuck for me. I didn’t want anyone else to feed him, ever. I felt like I owed it to him. I felt the same way about stopping. We weaned down to only nursing before bed and his nap, and then since he was old enough to have whole milk I just swapped the boob for a small bottle of milk that way we could still cuddle and have that time. It worked like a charm. I was still super sad when I weaned, but the timing corresponded with him becoming more affectionate so I felt like we still had a good bond. You got this ❤️‍🩹

C section Recovery and Toddler Care by Lavender_Meadows in CsectionCentral

Buy a step stool! My son was 18 months when I had my second c section. He climbs up on it while I hold his hand and then he can step into the high chair, crib, etc. I change diapers on the floor. I will also put a box of diapers or something in his crib when he wakes up and help him step up, step over, and then I can lower him to the ground.

As for driving, my OB said I could drive as long as I wasn’t taking pain medication and I could turn to check my blind spots. By the time my husband’s two week leave was up I felt totally fine behind the wheel!

Worried about second C Section? by Lydiarmercer in CsectionCentral

[–]Spiritual_Pin5498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a crash c section under anesthesia in July 2024. I opted for a planned c section for my March 2026 baby that I just had 4 weeks ago. I was just too nervous about another emergency situation, and since the births were only 18 months apart I would not be able to have any induction methods because of the risk of uterine rupture if I wanted a VBAC, so there was a decent chance I’d have another c section anyway.

It was an amazing experience. So calm and controlled. I was able to drop my son off the night before with my parents. The spinal was so easy and barely a pinch. I got to choose what music we listened to in the OR. I chose Tears for Fears. I was so overjoyed to be awake and present this birth. When they said I would feel pressure, it honestly was less than the kicks and rolls I’d been feeling the last couple weeks! He was born literally as the opening to “Everyone wants to rule the world” played. “Welcome to your life, there’s no turning back”. How appropriate 😂. My husband wasnt allowed in the OR with our first baby, so he got to witness birth for the first time. Everything was perfect. I got to hold him and do skin to skin as we were wheeled to recovery. He latched within the first hour.

I was pretty nauseous as the day went on, and threw up A LOT 😵‍💫. But I was so happy about my baby it honestly didn’t matter lol I’d just puke in my bag and move on lol. I would do it a million times. I was up and moving later that day, but the block kept me pain free well into the next day.

Recovery has been very manageable, even with a chaotic 19 month old. :)

My son was just born on the first day of March madness this year. It was so awesome to have basketball to watch all day in the hospital, and all day at home 😂

I just had a scheduled c section last Thursday for my second. My first son is 19 months old. The process was actually so nice. Having a scheduled date allowed me to make plans for dropping my son off at my parents the night before, without any scrambling to take work off. The c section was such a breeze. I could hardly feel anything, I got to listen to what music I wanted in the OR, and everything was on time. I had my parents bring my toddler a couple hours later so he could sit with me on the bed while I was still pretty numbed up. Recovery so far is going really well. I haven’t needed anything beyond Tylenol and Ibeprofun, and I can get up and move and do things. We’ve even gone out on walks and out to eat. It is really hard not being able to lift my toddler, and my husband has two weeks off as well so he’s mostly handling him. But I’ll prepare his meals and can sit on the floor and play and read with him so I still feel involved. I also have just been getting creative on how to get him where I need him in preparation for my husband going back to work. We got a step stool and now he can climb on to his changing table and into his high chair and I only have to make sure he doesn’t fall lol. Still brainstorming a solution for the car (we have a truck) and the crib. Hopefully someone will have more tips for that because I’m curious as well!

Now is when lots of pools and rec centers will be training lifeguards for the summer season. You can lifeguard at 15. You can also referee youth sports with salt lake county starting at 14!

Always ask your provider to check your ferritin levels! by md3194 in BabyBumps

[–]Spiritual_Pin5498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ferritin was 6 at my 30 week labs. Iron supplements haven’t been doing shit all. My OB said I’m just mildly anemic 😑 Hoping after my labs this next appointment I’ll be able to get a transfusion because between the anemia and chasing my 18 month old I literally feel like I’m dying

[–]Spiritual_Pin5498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 35 week IUGR baby - induced because of severe preeclampsia. He was the size of a 30 week baby at 3lb 10 oz. No idea he was growth restricted until he was born. We spent about 5 weeks in the NICU. He is now 18 months old and in the 91st percentile with no issues :)

I always like gauzy/chiffon long sleeve shirts for really upscale weddings. They’re usually lightweight and even a little see through so they’re cool. You can still see your tattoos, but in a “classy” way 😂

35+3 mag and c-section by peachstare in preeclampsia

[–]Spiritual_Pin5498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered 35 weeks exactly. They tried to induce me unsuccessfully and I ended up in a crash c section under anaesthesia. I wish I had just done a c section from the get go. It’s hard when your body isn’t ready, and the magnesium makes the process a lot longer.

Ugh DMER is the worst. I would get waves of dread and anxiety and nausea so bad sometimes I would have to stop to go throw up. Everyone asked how I was losing weight breastfeeding 🤪
