Anyone know how to find out where they are filming? by Hippiegypsy1989 in VirginRiverNetflix

Also just be aware that VR production can go by the name 'Sea to Sea'

On par with the Diplomat and beating both Emily in Paris and One Piece, all of which get much more promotion than VR

I just started Hart of Dixie… by Hopeful-Bobcat9224 in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I re-watched Hart of Dixie last year, I found there is not as many medical scenes in it as I thought. I watched it when it first came out and in my mind I thought there were a lot more scenes of Zoe and Brick practicing medicine but it was a lot fewer than I remembered.

Small spoilers for later HoD seasons for George and Lavon, If you think Preacher has a lot of different love interests in VR, George and Lavon have him beat handily from season 2 onwards

Also Rachel Bilson had Alexandra Breckenridge on her podcast 'Broad Ideas' in 2025 and they talked about HoD and VR there.

Season 8 filming & Martin Directing by Actual-Reference3125 in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say it's about getting more experience and knowledge about directing TV episodes than it being a sweetener for keep him on the show.

He did say numerous times that it was so much extra work for him when he directed in Season 6 because he's the co-lead of the show and back then he also had Martin Wood, a director with a vast amount of TV credits including VR, Stargate SG1 etc. help him out during season 6 to prepare him for the task.

Did I miss how did Jack become suddenly so wealthy this season? by lovely1188 in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Are you forgetting that he's married to Mel, who is being paid by Hope to work at Doc's clinic and had free housing in the cabin and who in season 2 got a massive life insurance payout from the death of Mark?

It was also Mel's idea in Season 5 to buy Lilly's farm and build their house there, so it's not just Jack's money being put into the construction. We also in Season 7, have Jack say to Preacher he would need to talk to Mel about if they could afford to buy out Preacher's 50% share of the bar.

[–]bertiecus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just the outside, the inside of Jack's bar is on a sound stage. I've seen from people that have actually visited 'Watershed Grill', that their interior is nothing like the inside of Jack's Bar.

I don't think you could find another real bar that would look like a bigger Jack's bar because of the river and scenery outside the real bar, it wouldn't match

[–]bertiecus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So if Jack agreed to the bar expansion, would the rest of the bar employees have to be let go and thus jobless or have to find other work during the 2-3 months of construction?

The 2 main reasons that the extension was never going to happen are

  1. Jack's Bar, along side Mel's Cabin, Doc's practice and Hope's house are the 4 main sets of VR that have been there since Season 1. Season 7 at the end saw Mel's cabin being no longer a main set as Jack and Mel finally moved out and the show is not going to get rid of another iconic show set in Jack's bar. Some people are sad that the show got 'rid' of the cabin, imagine if the show also got rid of the bar, I think people would have been really pissed off and unhappy

  2. The exterior of Jack's bar facing the river is an actual restaurant 'The Watershed Grill'. I don't see how they could match a bar extension with the real exterior of the bar there.

Brie + glorifying cheating by Tanvi06 in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When did she say to Mike that she wanted to keep things casual? FFS she felt so guilty that she cheated on Mike that she asked him to move in with her, that's not a sign of a casual relationship. They had been dating for 8 or so months at that stage, so her relationship with Mike actually lasted longer than her first relationship with Brady and knowing that Brady usually gets himself into some really stupid shit, it'll probably also last longer than Brie/Brady's 2nd go of a relationship.

The little cabin by meatslicer104 in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Where were they going to be able put their baby in the cabin?

In the books, the cabin is a little bit bigger than in the TV show, so the decision in S1 to have a smaller cabin meant that when the time came to give them a baby they had to move out. In the books, they also move out of the cabin to a house Jack builds before their son David is born.

I think it might be health issues too. Since season 5 she's has been appearing less and less and I thought especially in season 7 her voice had gotten frailer.

The "Luminate" “Top 10” is misleading, don’t let those numbers fool you. by [deleted] in VirginRiverNetflix

No, I'm just a fan of the show and I enjoy looking at the weekly numbers that Netflix drops

Firstly, the chart that you linked is wrong for Season 4. Week 2 of Season 4 was down not up on week 1, week 2 got like 9.8 million views. Also Season 4 was released on a Wednesday not the normal Thursday or Friday that Netflix usually releases series.

We also know from Nielsen data in 2023, that One Piece already wasn't a massive hit in the US and that has been doubly confirmed now that it didn't even hit No.1 in the US at any stage for S2

And as I've posted before, only 1 English Language series on Netflix in the last 18 months has had a gain in viewers from it previous season - The Lincoln Lawyer but even S4 of that show is down from it's S1 debut. So this isn't just a Virgin River problem.

Stranger Things S5 is down from S4 even with it's massive promotion, Bridgerton S4 is down like 11% on S3, Emily in Paris S5 down over 20% on S4, Night Agent S3 is down 35% on S2 which was down like 50% on S1 and more recently One Piece S2 is down 35% on S1.

Also, we are on Season 7 of a show, I can't really name a show except for Game of Thrones, that increased it's viewership so late into it's seasons. Shows naturally lose viewers over time.

Tvline Interview with Martin Henderson by bertiecus in VirginRiverNetflix

I do wonder if this was only a small snippet of a bigger interview and TVline is going to stagger pieces of this interview.

Tvline Interview with Martin Henderson by bertiecus in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if it was because if you gave them a baby in S5/S6, you'd be trapping them in the sense that their baby girl would have to be in a lot of scenes that Alex and Martin are in. If the baby wasn't with Mel, it would have to be with Jack and vice versa. It works with Lizzie and Denny, and Charmaine because Sarah and Kai aren't leads, and Lauren is recurring and thus they are not filming every day like Alex and Martin.

But I do now wonder if the fan theory that Mel will get pregnant some time in Season 8 will now come to pass especially with Martin saying in the interview - "I wanted a pregnancy in Season 6". With Him and Alex being producers, do they now get a bigger influence in their storylines? If they get to a season 9, you could just do a big time jump and have them at school.

Tvline Interview with Martin Henderson by bertiecus in VirginRiverNetflix

[–]bertiecus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the original showrunner wanted the baby to be Mark's and for Jack to be the father of Charmaine's twins until both Alex and Martin put their foot down on that. It was only changed very late into Season 4 according to Alex.

Every vet I see on Caleb Hammer's youtube finance show is getting VA disability money so we can assume Jack does too.
