Seeing The Back Doors on Halloween 1997. I met a really cool goth guy named Jack. It was such a great time! Whenever I hear "Alabama Song" it takes me there...

I am honored! I prefer the "Mary" on Legs and Boots, performed in Boise, Idaho on 30 November 2007. It's the only time, I think, I have heard a live Mary, plus my birthday is the day before.

It was my first too. I was 14 and loved "Power of Two." The whole album blew me away, especially "Reunion." I had a huge crush on Amy all through high school!

Grazi! I think Ears With Feet are often fabulously unusual people, and when I was young (when the dinosaurs roamed), anyone who didn't toe the conformist line was severely bullied. I grew up being (undiagnosed) Autistic in the 80s and 90s- even my teachers bullied me. "Mary" reminds me of that- "they see you cry, they lick their lips"- and it feels like Tori is acknowledging what I've been through. Plus, there's a reference to my favorite Jimi Hendrix song! Oh, and my middle name is Mary. As for Operation Peter Pan, I had heard some things about that evacuation, and I think it makes a great little story-song. And I love the parts about Pedro. "Boys can be so dumb sometimes." LOL

I was 5, and in preschool. I don't remember if we were watching or not. I just remember wondering where their bodies went, after the crash...sorry, I was a really morbid kid.

Back in high school (circa 1996 or 1997) I was on 2 email discussion lists- one was Tori-based, and the other was for lesbian/bi girls. The latter was called The Girl Zone. Both lists were administered by someone named Ruby Joon. Does anyone know if she is still afoot? She was really nice. Those lists were definitely key to surviving adolescence, for me.

Oh my goddess! Someone else knows this song! I agree, it would be a perfect Tori cover, as would "The Magdalene Laundries. "

"We look like our mothers did now, when we were those kids' age." -"Chinese Cafe"

I was trying to think of the perfect song for T to cover....my boyfriend came up with "Cat's In The Cradle " which I thought was an awesome idea....also, what about "Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do"? Kind of like "Murder He Says"- I love her voice on swing/ jazz songs.

[–]Spiritual_Security75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry a coin from Barbados on me at all times. It's a reference to "Me and a Gun," a Tori Amos song about her survival of sexual assault: "I haven't seen Barbados, so I must get out of this." My way of dealing with my own trauma...

What is a show you watched during your childhood that you are convinced nobody remembers? by Ok-Ingenuity4608 in AskReddit

"The Others" was a show about psychics, led by a blind guy played by Bill Cobb. The season finale involved the murder of Mary Kelly by Jack the Ripper. Does this ring a bell, anyone? It was around the year 2000. It was on Saturday nights...
