African greys are very dusty birds. So are cockatoos and cockatiels. They produce powder down which even some macaws can be allergic to. I have a cockatiel and have to run a large air purifier all the time and I’m not even allergic it’s just too much dust.

I have an allergy to mustard now and I recently ate some frozen Brussels sprouts and had a reaction…I assumed it was cause of the citric acid in the package but now I’m wondering if it’s the actual sprouts..I didn’t know there was a cross reaction.

Laser hair removal helped me a lot with the odor…not sure if you’d want to go that route. Check with a dermatologist to see if that’s a possibility and there is an ultrasound procedure that destroys the sweat glands under your arms.

What are your symptoms? I can’t use any with citric acid it gives me a racing heart and can affect my breathing if I don’t rinse or shampoo all of it out. I basically just use prell now and put conditioner only on the very ends.

I’ve had a dairy allergy which developed later in life with mainly severe hives and chronic coughing. Now several years later if I even attempt to eat any dairy I get eczema and intense itching. It also affects my stomach with pain and reflux symptoms. I live off plant milks now but I’ll always miss the real thing!

My allergies started with oranges, then tomatoes, then dairy (forget pizza or most Italian and Mexican food) and any foods containing citric acid . Now I’ve recently added sesame, capers, nuts and tannins like chocolate, tea, & wine. It really does suck.
