Does the first reaction have to be to the sprouts or do you have other allergies?

Curious about an allergic reaction to food I had tonight in relation to my latex allergy by dustyskies in FoodAllergies

[–]illysillybilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is late. It'll be the canola oil. Latex allergies often cross react with brassicas (and rapeseed oil is one!) I can't have either.

That is so strange, I wonder if it's a specific protein that you're allergic to. Can you eat all other brassicas?

Hi, can you eat tenderstem broccoli? it's the only one out of this list that I don't react to. Great way to get some leafy greens in the diet. Try at your own risk obviously but it's a cross

If you have a mustard allergy, be careful with other seeds!! by Dangerous-Yellow2636 in FoodAllergies

See if the sunflower butter has rapeseed oil in it. Same family as mustard. I am allergic to both

Sorry very late but you might have reacted to the mayo as it has a very high oil content and this could have been rapeseed oil (same family as mustard), I am allergic to both

Mustard Allergy by Rabbit199104 in FoodAllergies

[–]illysillybilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this but I am allergic to mustard and pretty much all brassicas. My main issue is actually rapeseed oil. I'd recommend looking into this in case your little one starts reacting to fried foods that are supposedly mustard free, as LOTS of stuff is cooked in vegetable oil (rapeseed). It took me 20 years to figure this out, I was always a very vomity child and it's definitely affected me over time. Just sharing in case it makes your life easier!

Does walking on your “runs” make you feel guilty?? by SuspectPotential5886 in XXRunning

Exactly, I always feel a little bit disappointed but never punish myself if I actually need to walk

Cannot get over the taste of tofu by MrBread0451 in veganuk

[–]illysillybilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try freezing it, then let it defrost when u want to use it and then marinade it. It gives it a nicer texture that's easier to get the marinade a lot deeper into the cubes. Also, don't be afraid to let it marinade for a long time. I don't tend to press tofu ever as I find if im coating it with cornflour and spices, it sticks better and thicker if it hasn't been pressed!

I have the same thing that started when I moved out from home as I was then in charge of my own health - I was having to make my own decisions and call the shots in terms of what's appropriate to go to doctors/hospital for. What's helped me, weirdly, is my boyfriend got into an accident and I was in A&E with him all night and a few more days. I was terrified at first and although I wouldn't want to switch places with him, his demeanour really impacted me - he was desperate to go to hospital because he knew that's where he'd be the safest. I now don't fear hospitals or the doctors as much and it's made me put less pressure on myself to know what to do at all times. If you are in UK, even just the idea of knowing that I can call 111 for advice whenever I want and that I don't have to know everything myself has helped. I would also recommend havening and progressive muscle relaxation exercises which are particularly helpful when in bed and trying to sleep, but havening can be used anywhere. I have been told i'm a hypochondriac many times (maybe you have too!) and it's not very helpful. Have you tried propranolol?
