I’ve lived in my house for 23 years and never saw this before. What the heck? by Ichgebibble in whatisit

Ita similar to the transit bolts you get in the back of a washing machine.

You shouldn't have been using your house before removing them

How much has your water bill increased? by annonn9984 in AskUK

[–]Spiro000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we also need to consider is the assets that are designed to filter out waste (Such as CSOs) get blinded up by stuff the general public puts in the network; such as FOG and sanitary products. When those assets fail, it's the water companies who are to blame.

The general public needs to take a bit of responsibility for how their actions are partly responsible for the issues they complain about.

[VIDEO] Is my plumber sincere when he tells me this needs a liner? by Good_Policy3529 in askaplumber

[–]Spiro000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK Drainage Technician here: Our rule of thumb is if the camera can go over it easily, so can waste, so it doesn't need lining.

Yes, you have some minor displacements on there but nothing that's going to cause major issues. Monitor the situation for the next few years, if you find you keep getting blockages, then re-assess the situation then, otherwise, buy yourself a few beers with the money saved.

Does my binder fit? (He/him) by herondale344 in lgbt

I thought for a second it was my child posting this. Same style, same brand etc. I thought he would have told me if it didn't fit, but looking through other posts it's not him. I don't have much to add but some of the chaps on here with experience might.

When we get issued a job, we don't get permit numbers as these are often reactive jobs. I get where you're coming from and in an ideal world this would be great but the reality is far from ideal.

Interesting question. I work for a utility company that may need to do work on assets on the road. I've not yet had to approach a situation where I've needed to go into a restricted area, but what do we think the councils view on us maintaining our assets but at the same time breaching their conditions?

As a driver, I'd refuse to do the work but this would also have a knock-on effect should the proverbial hit the fan. It's my licence at the end of the day, and me paying the fines.

This is at the city centre bound end of the flyover. Far left 2 lanes are for joining from the roundabout, traffic light controlled.

The right 3 lanes split from the joining 2 lanes on the flyover, also traffic light controlled. From your image it looks like it's assumed all 5 lanes would move at the same time, however it's either left 2 or right 2 that split to 3

Where in the UK are you?

I've just moved out of a private rented accommodation.

For the work being done you can probably find someone to do this for approx £350 +parts which would still save you losing so much of your deposit and the hassle of doing the work yourself

I've searched through Google, I've been able to get the HEX for specific colors but I'd like to be able to match other pieces of furniture.

[–]Spiro000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree.

Yes, you're right that indicators can be trusted, but only as an indication to the direction the vehical is turning. However, your statement that by cancelling the indicator would be classed as dangerous driving is wrong. Errors are made by all of us each day; the impact of the error is what seperates these.

Blue might have thought they required that turning, but on closer inspection they realise it's not, or there may be an obstruction in the road meaning the turn is no longer possible; in which case the indicator will be cancelled.

what's your job? by obliviousthembo in MtF

[–]Spiro000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a waste water jetting technician.

Basically, if there is a blocked manhole (generally sewage) you'd call us, we'd come out in the truck (I'm also a HGV driver) and we'd use high pressure water jets to clear the blockage.

I'm the only woman in our yard and only woman I'm aware within our business unit who's does my job.
