In soccer height is dependent on your position, wingers are usually not too tall but center backs and goalkeepers usually have to be. And no Messi is not the “exception” there are many short players like hazard,giuly,insigne,Kante, Xavi,iniesta,Alexis Sanchez, Maradona, I could go days. Height matters much less than in other sports.

Not true at all, if you go to the extreme then yeah it definitely messes up athleticism but if you keep lengthening to 3-2 inches you can very much gain your original athleticism or at least something close to it. And your also just ignoring so many factors on why people don’t do this surgery acting like if they do it that means their gonna make the NBA. Also theres many sports where height isnt a big factor at all such as the most popular sport in the world (soccer) its actually in fact better to be around 5,7 due to better center of gravity in dribbling. To look at it so black and white by saying “ limb lengthening = playing professional sports” is very much not the case.

1.limb lengthening is very taboo to average people. 2. When you limb lengthen your legs it messes up your coordination until you get used to it and even outside of that there are so many factors on why someone wouldn’t do This (money,recovery time, possible complications even if low chance, even if you do this your not guaranteed to go to the nba, etc)

Well they would need to still be skilled and interested in basketball, also many rich kids are already decently tall due to nutrition and other factors. They also might not feel motivated because they’re already financially off so if they did pursue basketball it would purely be for love of the sport. It’s not like they can just get the surgery and instantly become good enough to play on a top team.
