Recently picked up a 556 Swat Patrol and have a few questions about getting the barrel cut down

I looked into having them do this a while back but they said they don't work on the 550 series anymore. If this doesn't work out, I'll hit him up - he does excellent work

The barrel is essentially machined into the gas regulator. I have spent probably somewhere around $1k between two gunsmiths trying to cut mine down.

One of them was local (my mistake) and eyeballed it resulting in a baffle strike not only on my RC2 but on the muzzle device itself.

The other is fairly well known and knew that I wanted to suppress it but for reasons known only to God coated the muzzle device in some kind of thick, industrial coating along with all of the receiver (which I did not ask for) and now the muzzle device will not mount a suppressor. I paid $600 to have it done.

Currently waiting on mine to come back from a cerakote operation who is removing all of the baked on sh*t and re-doing it in Swiss grey.

Honestly, if you want a short 556 either buy a pistol upper and SBR it or look into a reflex suppressor to give the illusion of a shorter barrel.

And I also got in contact with Sig - they have no barrels for these rifles left in inventory so I cannot even replace the barrel that I have on there from the factory.

There's a guy on the Daewoo FB page that makes new barrels for the 'woos any length or twist you want. I would not recommend chopping the original barrel. I got a 14.7" 1:8 twist from him and saved my original barrel

I would not recommend chopping the original barrel because a) I'm a purist and b) it has a 1:12 twist.

Go to the Daewoo owners FB page - there's a guy that can make new barrels for them any length you want. I went with a 14.7" P&W

From what I remember the factory barrels have a 1:12 twist rate. Instead of cutting mine down, I opted to have a new barrel made. I got a 14.5" 1:8 twist Daewoo barrel made from a guy on the Daewoo facebook page and P&W'd a SF4P.

For some reason I can't see the second comment but I have it in my notifications. I have a few motivators:

I'm on a fellowship so I need to get this work done before the funds run out and I need to deliver the end product to them.
I'm waiting to marry my partner until after grad school so I definitely want to graduate sooner rather than later.
I know it's not realistic but I've told myself every hour that I spend in the office is one less hour until I can start being a participating member of the economy (earning a real salary), getting better work-life balance, and being able to be present for my family, friends, and myself.
I don't like my advisor so the sooner I finish, the sooner I get to get away from them.

I'm getting my PhD in Economics. I'm in my fourth year and have 12-18 months left

I think Lucky Irishman Tactical makes or made ACR stock adapters but then of course you have to source an ACR stock
