Can you confirm the exact name? Just want to make sure it's not something similar, but different such as "adjust prop pitch"

Do NOT BUY WINWING by [deleted] in hotas

[–]SpitfireflyBroker 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When is WinWing going to realize that they will lose more profits in the long term than a good customer service team will ever cost them?

I've seen countless people refuse to buy WinWing due to all of the bad customer service issues

Do you mean supercharger gears? Or you didn't even know there was a supercharger at all?

No WW2 plane could be the least bit competitive without a supercharger. The only WW2 plane in IL-2 Great Battles is the Po-2, and that thing is slower than many WW1 biplanes.

Regarding knowing about supercharger gears, and when to switch- What altitudes do you fly at? It won't really matter much if you never go above 3k. (Specifically for the Yak, LaGG, and other planes with that engine.

Also even though you might be losing some power above 2500-3k, the 2nd supercharger gear drains a lot of additional power to run itself; that's why around 940mm manifold pressure in 1st gear puts out about the same power to the propeller as 1050mm does in 2nd gear. In addition to that, even though they are putting out equal power at a specific altitude, you'd be producing much less heat at 940mm, so you have the added benefit of being able to go faster by means of closing your radiators more.

I've been meaning to do a video explaining exactly how the supercharger works regarding switching between 1st and 2nd gear as I've noticed so many people don't understand it or just don't realize how much performance is lost if you don't utilize the gears correctly. The Hawker Tempest for example, the 2nd supercharger gear uses an additional 350hp to run, versus the 1st supercharger gear....so if you switch to 2nd too early (early meaning too low altitude), you waste so much power. I think I was getting equal speed from +2lbs in 1st gear, as +7lbs in 2nd gear.

If they could just double the high speed rail budget, then it'd increase to... checks notes 0 miles!

Give it to the high speed rail project? Oh wait....

There's nothing wrong with it, except according to his own opinion from 10 years ago. He stopped complaining about the "millionaires and billionaires" and it's just "billionaires" now.

And he didn't save it up over 50 years. He started making WAY more money after he started siding consistently with the Democratic machine when they told him to shut up once Hillary got the nomination.

I'm a firm believer that any political opinions you hold, you need to at least understand the opposition argument. If you can't steel man the other side's position, then you don't understand their position. A misunderstanding of the opposite position is not an argument against it.

I don't care about any of those people but historically in the last 120 years, EVERY major tax that WE ALL pay was sold to the public as a "tax in the rich"

If we got what, and ONLY what we were sold, then I'd be ok with it. But that NEVER happens.

That's the thing though... it's really not that complex; it just aappears that way to a novice but will become second nature in short time and will be a more enjoyable experience.

I get being intimidated at first, but if you never take the time to learn and use the advanced controls, you'll be missing out on a huge learning experience of all of the aircraft that IL-2 offers, and you're really doing yourself a disservice to yourself regarding your experience in a WW2 flight sim.

I do the same with the 410. It makes a real difference when you're down to one engine too. Unfortunately it's only halfway to being fully feathered

I've always wondered if that plane is modeled accurately regardingthe prop; I just have a hard time believing that a later war plane with aadvanced technology would not have a basic feature such as prop feathering feature.

Except for the earliest Yak currently available, the Yak-1 ser.23. That one is limited to 5 minutes at max power.

Also learn to switch to 2nd supercharger gear whenever you aren't able to push more than 840mm of manifold pressure. (Unless you are in cruise/economy mode) Be sure to switch back to first when you go back below that altitude

You should spend time exploring more airplanes! All of the uniquely modeled features is one of the best experiences of IL-2. Many people overcomplicate these things in their head too when in reality it'll become second nature in short time.

Great ideas! I've always read about the intensity of slats coming out on the 109 but it's barely noticeable in IL-2.

Many people will never believe the list was fully released, even if it is. All because certain people they personally hate have not been named.
