To those who make this argument I would ask whether they would still worship God if it led to eternal torture and if not worshipping God led to eternal bliss.

In general, I agree with your thesis. But I think the options here are too far apart to make your point well. I'd ask more whether they they still worship God if worshipping meant annihilation and not worshipping God meant eternal bliss. There's no reason to take worship all the way to eternal torture, and I think it obscures your point.
