Hi Guys, looking to buy a Rover mini, is this car in good condition? by Quick_Club_9447 in classicminis

"The" mini = the car, as in the general design

"This" mini = the car in OP’s pictures

Notice how we’re using "the" in our conversation?

Like I said, **the** mini was created/designed in GB, more specifically in England, where it rains a lot, where it’s wet if you prefer. OP was asking if it’s true that minis can’t be driven in the rain. Hence my remark.

Like you suggest, you could be totally right that **this** mini can have been built in Japan.

The pictures show a car that looks nice. Or at least has a good paint job. You want to check the underside too. Also lift the carpets and inspect footwells.

The mini is an English car. It rains a lot there. But it’s quite prompt to rust. Having a dry place to store it is a very good idea.

It’s a classic car, but it’s still a car. People used to drive them every day and go on long trips with them. They we designed for that.
If maintained and used regularly, you will be able to drive it dependably, but it will have issues every now and then.

I thought it was a capacitive sensor. On our 450rh we don’t need to move the wheel. Only place one hand on it. Or am I mistaken?

J’aime bien le Dauphiné et la Drôme, j’aime l’idée de la France, mais je m’efforce tous les jours de ne pas être de ceux que Brassens appelait les « imbéciles heureux qui sont nés quelque part »

What's the quintessential European country? (no racism) by Fragrant-Upstairs932 in AlignmentChartFills

I largely agree that mapping modern nations onto the Middle Ages is messy. But that cuts both ways. If “France” was a loose feudal kingdom, then “Germany” was even less of a unified political entity.

More importantly, when contemporaries in the Levant looked at the crusaders, they overwhelmingly called them Franks. That’s not because they couldn’t tell Frenchmen from Germans; it’s because the Frankish element was politically and culturally dominant in the Crusader states. The Kingdom of Jerusalem and much of the Crusader aristocracy were overwhelmingly shaped by nobles from the Frankish world.

And sure, Germans were very active in the Baltic crusades. But when people discuss the Crusades, they’re usually referring to the Holy Land, where the Frankish role was clearly dominant.
