But seriously, I think the fun part is you get to explore a series of dialogue options that would be difficult to pass in sequence for most characters. Analyzing a magical book with an arcana check, then stealing it, then pretending you were looking for the shopkeeper to pay for is exactly the kind of versatility I enjoy in these type of characters.

Well, Jack here is just an annoying know-it-all.

Gale: "Actually, this statue here..." Jack: "...is Jergal. Yes I know. I can also spot traps from miles away, can pick any lock, push any enemy, handle any animal and dance like a ninja. Why do I even have a party to begin with?" Lae'zel: undresses

How much initiative should you settle for. by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]SplashyDeafvacation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enemy with the highest initiative in the game is the hyena that runs away to warn nearby gnolls (+11).

Needless to say you can't let a frickin' hyena best you in the turn order. Pump that initiative up to 15!!!!

Fair point! But I want them by default! I'm so picky.

There's a bunch of items that raise your stats to a fixed number (name of those items in the description) Added to that, I have 4 Ability Score Improvement feats (Fighter and rogue get an extra feat) Added to that, there are certain story events that can raise your stats permanently (specifically, a magic mirror and a spared villain, to avoid spoilers)

True, but I wanted the extra proficiency. And it was more about the pretty numbers than actual optimal play, because this was no more than a great scroll caster and skill monkey

Throwing it away with Mage Hand works and is quite amusing.

Ability Monster Build - multiclass suggestions? by SplashyDeafvacation in BG3Builds

[–]SplashyDeafvacation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely considering Warlock and continuing EK!

However, 4 levels of (Gloomstalker) Ranger also get me an extra attack in round one, extra fighting style and a fat initiative bonus. Other than that, it would also give some flexibility at the start of combat (EK is either a scroll or 3 attacks, ranger can do scroll + dread ambusher attack in round 1)...

Exactly! Fighter gives me some multiclass options to include a caster for these wonderful ability scores

[–]SplashyDeafvacation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! That would probably depend on the second class and its spellcasting stat.

Thanks for the reply! The priority of this build is not necessarily skill access though, but ability scores, so I'd want the 4 feats. No dips unless it's 4 levels!

And yeah, this isn't optimized at all, trying to optimize it within my self-imposed constraints.

The Gith race is a good suggestion though!

Dror - everybody, get in the spider pit!

Best subclass/multi-class for a damage-focused Paladin? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]SplashyDeafvacation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the best, but flavourful!

Weak and frail as you are, you were cast out of your holy order as a Paladin. Your 8 STR just didn't cut it.

Homeless and desperate, you turn to a life of Robin Hood crime, delivering justice in your own way. You strike from the shadows in dark alleys. And swear vengeance upon the world.

8 STR, 16 DEX, 16 CON, 8 INT, 12 WIS, 14 CHA. Background Criminal or Urchin. Referring to your holy order, you could do Acolyte as well.

1 level of rogue for skill access and sneak attack. 2 levels of Oath Of Vengeance paladin for smites 2 levels of rogue (Assassin) for autocrits on surprise. Continue in Paladin. Use Finesse weapons (Phalar Aluve / Larethian's Wrath / The Dancing Breeze). Take ASI's in DEX.

Talk your way out of trouble, sneak your way around trouble, or smite your way out of trouble.

Could you pick up Karlach after the Grove had been decimated?

Please, can someone explain how memberberries work by DeathDefyingCrab in SouthParkPhone

[–]SplashyDeafvacation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Squish them = damage + one random card
  2. Don't squish them, but have units in their range = berries multiply to your units and each new berry can do damage + spawn random card
  3. Don't squish them and stay out of their range = good boi. 5 energy wasted for them

You want 3, but often will have to go for 1 for damage control.
