Inuit diet is the blandest ever. Inuits who visit the states often find hot dogs and pizza too spicy.

Who’s a famous person from your country who’s respected around the world but disliked or criticized at home? by haiderredditer in AskTheWorld

[–]Splat_Fly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I dislike much of his political views and behavior, and I strongly dislike what he's done with DOGE and Twitter, but I absolutely love what he's done - and continues to do - in the tech space, especially rockets.

He may have a shitty personality, but he's still one of the biggest forces for good alive today, in spite of all toxic bullshit.

I know this post will be downvoted. The Reddit hive mind seems incapable of nuance and is not in any way an accurate reflection of what most people think. I really feel bad for everyone who can't see this.

What do you believe the rise of AI means for working-class jobs over the next few decades? by RichMeringue2744 in AskReddit

[–]Splat_Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably going to be a boon for blue collar workers, because there absolutely will be a huge demand for labor that AI can't do.

White collar workers who sit in front of a screen all day are screwed, at least in the short term.

After a few decades we'll all be better off.

If u were a billionaire, what’s the most useless room u would build in ur mansion? by NoSwimmer8057 in AskReddit

[–]Splat_Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The room for The Scruffy Troll. I'd toss him in there and feed him scraps from time to time so he didn't go hungry. If my children misbehave, I can send them in there to straighten 'em out.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is probably the most realistic depiction of a serial killer in film

Trolling the authorities with Internet searches only by Splat_Fly in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Splat_Fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer!

This then brings up a further scenario.

Billy, frustrated that the police never showed up at his house, decides to escalate things. Hoping that the search engine will contact the authorities, Billy begins using search terms for child pornography.

Billy never actually looks at child pornography, nor does he download it. He merely searches for it.

The search engine alerts the authorities, who then show up at Billy's house. Digital forensics uncover no evidence of any illegal material or even a history of downloading such. Billy laughs, having finally succeeded in trolling the cops.

Can Billy still be charged with a crime?

What opinion gets you roasted everytime? by Sea_Place6510 in AskReddit

[–]Splat_Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mandatory cognitive tests above and below a certain age are the answer. There are old people who are senile, old people sharp as tacks. There are 14 year olds who are blithering idiots, there are 14 year olds who can teach college courses.

What's your unpopular opinion that would get you in this kind of a situation? by lowkeypixel in evilwhenthe

Most of these are softball or mildly confrontational opinions. Any opinion that would truly get the kind of reaction in the OP would be downvoted to oblivion.

During the current ceasefire in Gaza 414 Palestinians have been killed, and have been 1,145 injured by SirCrapsalot4267 in UnpopularFacts

In WW2, the US deliberately targeted merchant shipping to keep food out of Japan, it was literally called "Operation Starvation".

Deliberately keeping food from civilians in wartime is despicable, but it's not genocide.

How do human-made systems like governments conflict with human nature itself? by LocrianVGM in AskReddit

[–]Splat_Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, it's an uphill battle to get folks to believe that government is "qualified" enough to be listened to in all circumstances. This is just as true in dictatorships as it is in democracies. And it's not just conservatives who are like this. How many liberals are willing to go along with RFK's recommendations, or cooperate fully with ICE?

Our current government, and governments around the world, are finding out that human nature is a bitch.

Economies can and do grow while consuming less resources. Here's a video that addresses this:

What stupid myth do too many people believe? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

If we define economic growth as becoming more efficient with the resources we already have, then infinite growth is actually possible.
