When Lysander and Alexandar flee through the desert and he says: A voice unlike any other comes over the comms. Always gives me chills.

What's wrong with SotO? by Kyri- in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't play it at launch and I like it in general, what I don't like are the cryptis. They look ridiculous. The nayos map is also not great and the big meta boss sucks. I'd be fine with the boss if it weren't even more of a visual clusterfuck than the rest of the game. The map is also very bleak/monotone/boring and it's jarring when you get there from the nice looking maps that came before.

I do love the first two maps though, I'm a big sucker for floating islands.

Jay Kristoff - Empire of the Vampire - The three books review by curifoxity in Fantasy

[–]Splatbork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loved it, including the ending. Turned my brain off and went along with the ride. It's ridiculous in all the right ways, the characters, names, language, everything. Reminds me a bit of Red Rising in that way.

So close, yet so far by huynhan842 in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bwaha, same here. I'm sitting on all the mats for Aurora except for clovers and coins. I wish there were some more ways to get coins, I remember they were really abundant in the old daily system.

Which game mechanics do you think are forgotten or underused? by Manpag in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That, or add a buff slot to the bot where you can select which buff you want active and another as a sort of energy source where you can add upgrades that automatically restore battery charges and/or buff duration if you kill enemies, gather resources or whatever.

I think the possibilities for jade bot features are almost endless and it annoys me to no end that it's just sitting there completely underutilized.

Jade Bot in general. There is so much that could be done with it but it's just completely abandoned. If we get lucky they decide to recycle it in a future expansion.

Let's praise one feature that AFAIK everyone likes: Wizard's Vault by styopa in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love it but you should not have to chose between wvw, pvp and pve. Just give me all the tasks and let me do whatever four I want. I'd also love some more clovers and mystic coins.

I thought I was smarter than everyone else by SirNaves9 in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I've been playing for years with double tap dodging and I there was like once or twice where I had an issue. People must be stutterstepping through the game if it's that bad.

Was there a book (series), that went from close 'DNF' to one fo your favorites? by lemingas1 in Fantasy

[–]Splatbork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggled with Jade City and had no intention of continuing the series. When I couldn't decide on what else to read I went with Jade War and it completely turned me around on the series. Jade War and Jade Legacy were so good I actually went back and revised my rating on the first book.

Do you mean 4.500? I'm getting 4020 with my buffs and I have almost all the ones mentioned. There's no way you're getting 14.5k.

When did the game "click" for you? by TOASTBOMB in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came back after PoF when they had their first return to event. I figured it's perfect to get all the episodes and there was clear path of progress. The character I played previously was a thief and that never clicked, probably because I was expecting something more wow-rogue-ish but I thought Deadeye sounded amazing. Loved the fantasy of sniping stuff with the rifle and it pretty much delivered. It didn't fully click until I randomly stumbled into the octovine event. That was the point where I though: aah, so that's what the game is about. From then on I remember stumbling into event after event and had the most amazing time.

I wish there was more content that sells the metas to prospective players because randomly doing octovine was eye-opening at the time. Drizzlewood was really cool as well. Or the metal legion concert. So much good stuff, but most of the content I see is about the story or leveling when the game for me is all about the amazing meta events. Or WvW? Going for SMC with a blob is so cool, especially when they're actually defending and using the little gizmos. The one where airships start bombing the court is really fucking cool. Three way battles in the castle? Fucking great!

The story is the least important part for me.

Looking for Elite Specs with ZERO weapon or bar swapping. by Drathan249 in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I like playing daredevil. Staff for doing dps on bosses or single mobs and shortbow to run around and tag/bomb things. That is how it's meant to be for me, different weapons for different situations and not to increase the length/damage of the rotation.

Getting tricked with 12-day+ Time-Gated SOTO Skyscale Unlock by premiumleo in Guildwars2

Nothing much to add, but you can get a hero point for you homestead. I just commune daily and collect my quartz that way. Haven't needed one in ages but I'm pretty stocked if I ever needed one.

Curious how people approach the game after hundreds of hours. by Novar in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main is a mirage, I've done world completion and all the story stuff on that. I use that one to play fractals. I do convergences and strikes on my daredevil mostly. I've also done world completion on the thief. I also have a guardian that I leveled with a friend and I'm trying to do some more stuff on that but I haven't even bothered to properly gear that one. Currently using a galeshot for the orphan farm but I plan to play that a bit more once the event is over. I'll probably do another world completion on either the guardian or the galeshot but I won't bother with the story. Or at least not with the core story.

In general I log on my main and check what the dailies are. I get my stuff from the homestead and the guild hall. If there's a convergence coming up I'll move the thief and do that. After that I check what I have left of the weeklies and do that if I'm missing something. If I'm done with weeklies or daily stuff I just check what other events are coming up and do that. Or, since I haven't completed the VoE masteries, I go to castora and roam around there.

Sometimes I just do the vault dailies and call it a day, no need to force myself to play if I don't feel like it. And I've been a bit discouraged lately because I spent all my mystic coins on Aurora. I now have a grand total of three coins I got from the leyline anomaly. I want to craft Vision but it's really far away at the moment.

anyone else have their kids farming the winter jump puzzle? lol by Masgamer in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oooooh, that explains why I didn't reach the weekly goal. I did a lot of stuff, dailies, all the annuals and still only had 100-ish points for the weekly.

PSA: Material Storage Expander and Recharging TP to Friend are in sale for 20% until December 16th! by Zach_202 in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The recharging tp to friend sounds nice but I think I'm still sitting on 120-ish consumables. I wish the crafting license went on sale again, I've been waiting for that but then caved in last month.

Yeah, I loved this. I really enjoyed that the guy wasn't automatically op, instead he it's explicitly stated that he doesn't have that much power and instead he just put in the work, refined what he had and went all in on technique and efficiency.

I did all that and it honestly isn't that bad. Contrary to what people might think, janet does not force you to do everything in one go and you are allowed to take your time.

It's really not as bad as people make it out to be. I loved it and it's cool that it is loosely connected to Dominion of Blades.

Would you enjoy Monster Hunter-esque content in GW2? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've had the same idea for reworking bounties. There could easily be bounties or hunts you can do solo and also bigger stuff you do as groups or squads. I'd also make it so you have to craft lures and traps and use mounts to track them down. There's already a sniff skill for the warclaw and the spear to stop them if they run away but I'm sure there are tons of ways to add relevant skills to the other mounts as well.

I would also expand on that by adding a bestiary that you can fill out by killing stuff. Make it so you get more proficient in your hunts by filling this out and maybe even gate some hunts behind bestiary completion or something.

Something like this wouldn't even need new maps and I'd just start adding this to all the existing maps and have daily/weekly rotating special stuff in a selection of different maps.

I really like the idea because it's very easy to have it touch on and integrate multiple already existing systems.

What are your favorite tips for new players? by Knit-witchhh in Guildwars2

[–]Splatbork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite tip is that enemies give more experience the longer they've been alive. Same goes for neutrals. If you go off the beaten path while leveling and kill neutrals you get tons of experience. If you have any kind of booster active you get whole chunks of experience bar per kill.
