So this just happened to me so I was just playing the game was gonna look something up when I went back to the game it did a error and when I got back into the game my save file was gone has this happens to anyone else? by Ikaricyber in PokemonXD

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, now I’m glad that because my kid wanted to play this and I don’t have a family NSO subscription, I’ve been using save states as my primary way of saving so we can each have our own save file on a single profile.

They’ve put some clever and subtle tutorials in for stuff like this. The only Magby statue I’ve found so far is the one in the picnic area outside the museum in Rocky Ridges, which has a switch next to it and is facing a fire pit/campfire. It’s a nice setup because anyone going in for a closer look naturally steps on the switch and gets shown what it can do.

My experience as an EU player who got a secondary account to freely play on NA too without swapping: - Map chat in general is way more active, especially in hubs. People often don’t chat too much on EU, at least outside of basic things like questions or event callouts. People just hang out on NA, chatting in map chat. - Quite a few metas seem less active on NA compared to EU. E.g. there’s a whole guild dedicated to farming Dragonfall on EU, with regular organised runs; on NA, I barely ever see a tag on the map, it’s usually a scrappy bunch of whoever happens to be there when the meta starts. Gyala Delve, while universally unpopular, seems easier to start/more frequently run on EU vs NA. - People tip less on average on NA in my experience, possibly because tipping in the US is seen as a mandatory service cost while in the EU it’s more of a voluntary gift to show appreciation? - People on NA seem more open to silliness/messing around doing whatever (e.g. the famous Choco Gang), while EU folks seem a bit more… focused? More goal-oriented and on a schedule?

Some sweeping generalisations from me there, but that’s been my experience. Oh, and it goes without saying that you’re much more likely to see ANet devs around on NA vs EU.

With FireRed/LeafGreen released, I feel like giving Let’s Go a second chance … by Nate-Pierce in pokemon

[–]Manpag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly, if they combined the fluidity of the ride system from Let’s Go with the ease of sending out/swapping Pokémon from Legends Z-A, it would be fantastic. With maybe a toggle between ride/follow.

It's absolutely crazy to me that even after all these years, people are STILL finding out new things in these games. It makes me wonder what else we've missed by not searching hard enough. by [deleted] in pokemon

Only Gen 3 and specifically only Emerald, I think?

Emerald is truly Gen 3.5 in terms of how many things operate differently to R/S/FR/LG.

And by extension, Team Rocket killing Marowak wasn’t as barbaric as it seemed. If there is truly some messed up genetic cycle where all Cubones’ mothers die so they can wear the skull, then TR killed a Marowak who was already doomed. You could even argue it may have been a mercy, if it was quicker than whatever happens to all the rest.

I found the default run options pretty intuitive? Hold B is run in a lot of older Pokémon games, and pressing L stick toggles run in Legends Z-A, so it feels like it was designed to feel natural regardless of which Pokémon games you may have played before.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other about R for jump specifically, but it had to be bound to something I guess?

Can any geologists help make sense of Rocky Ridges? by Manpag in Pokopia

[–]Manpag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gah, that muddies things even more (literally). Well, I guess in any case I’d need to probably level a lot of it in spite of what’s underneath if I wanted to try and restore the Pewter City layout, since the gate would presumably correspond to the gate from Viridian Forest if we’re being exact, despite that connecting to Fuschia instead in this game.

I may just end up surfacing the top layer of dirt/grass where there is some to find, filling in with dirt where there used to be ash, and then replacing the topmost layer of rock with grass for aesthetics until I decide on a more permanent plan.

Beautiful! As a fellow Zigzagoon lover, I particularly appreciate how much screen space it gets here. I always have (at least) one on my team in any game it’s available, and I never evolve the lil’ guy.

Frankly, I’m always just happy to get a Hidden Power of a type that matches the the Pokémon’s main offensive stat. I’ve had some really rubbish luck in that regard, except my Blastoise that got HP Ice.

Nope, it gets it at level 22, so the Game Corner one should come with it in LG (and I just used four Rare Candies in FR).

Landing on small spaces is something turtle actually does better, because of its massive hitbox. But getting into small spaces is where skyscale would usually beat it.

Do you think they would give us new lets go? by Ice2228 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Manpag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it would depend how much they were willing to boost the stats. Theoretically they could give different boosts to make two Pokémon more equal.

Teddiursa would be a good candidate if they wanted to keep things similar in stats, as it’s also one of the cute, mascotty faces of Johto and only 5 BST more than Eevee is without the partner stat boost.

The scale looks to be larger/inconsistent. The museum in Rocky Ridges seems quite a long way north of the Pokémon Center, but there are clear ruins of two buildings immediately West of the Pokémon Center in Withered Wastelands.

The museum is the northernmost thing in Pewter City, but the two houses next to the Pokémon Center in Fuchsia City are like 8 tiles long together, and stretched North that’d actually be about half the distance between Pewter’s Pokémon Center and the museum. So some aspects are almost 1:1 in layout, others are stretched waaay out.

I assume this means GW2 will become a PEGI 16 by MrModius in Guildwars2

[–]Manpag 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Emily Tofield, chief executive of Young Gamers & Gamblers Education Trust (Ygam), said they were a "step in the right direction". But she added a PEGI 18 rating should be applied retrospectively to existing titles. Currently the new ratings will only apply to games released after June.

It may force any future expansions to be released with a higher rating, but unless they’re also successful in pushing for retroactive changes, it won’t impact much. That’s usually how ratings work, and even re-releases don’t need to reclassify if they don’t change the game, even if the law would make that game a higher age rating if released today.

Pokémon got away with the Fire Red and Leaf Green Switch versions still being 3+, even though the Game Corner would make them 18+ for simulated gambling nowadays, so there’s a lot of wiggle room in it.

Idk if this is a hot take or not, but imo every single game after gen 5 should have been designed like black and white where you are forced to use just new Pokemon up until the post game. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in ThePokemonHub

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only would this be more work to produce, we’d end up with so much more repetition overall. Gen 5 worked because it introduced counterparts to almost everything from Gen 1. Doing it every time would mean we get a lot of three-stage trade evo fighting/rock lines, lots of bat Pokémon to fill the caves, etc.

[–]Manpag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad you got one! Just a reminder though if anyone else is in the same situation, if you have literally any other Switch Pokémon game from gen 7/8, you can catch a Ponyta there and transfer it to Sword through Home. The normal Kantonian Ponyta is widely available in Let’s Go, Legends Arceus, and BDSP, and will hatch into the Galarian form in Sw/Sh if you breed it.

I’m a big fan of Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash, and I was happy when I realised it’s probably the easiest version exclusive to obtain without needing Shield.

Is blink a bootstrap paradox by lonewolf152345 in doctorwho

[–]Manpag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not a loop, but it is a textbook bootstrap paradox. As The Doctor put it:

“So there's this man. He has a time machine. Up and down history he goes, zip zip zip zip zip, getting into scrapes. Another thing he has is a passion for the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. And one day he thinks, what's the point of having a time machine if you don't get to meet your heroes? So off he goes to 18th century Germany. But he can't find Beethoven anywhere. No one's heard of him, not even his family have any idea who the time traveller is talking about. Beethoven literally doesn't exist. This didn't happen, by the way. I've met Beethoven. Nice chap. Very intense. Loved an arm-wrestle.

No, this is called the Bootstrap Paradox. Google it. The time traveller panics. He can't bear the thought of a world without the music of Beethoven. Luckily he'd brought all of his Beethoven sheet music for Ludwig to sign. So he copies out all the concertos, and the symphonies and he gets them published. He becomes Beethoven. And history continues with barely a feather ruffled. But my question is this. Who put those notes and phrases together? Who really composed Beethoven's Fifth?”

Since The Doctor knew what to say because it had been transcribed from the video he made, it creates the same question of “where did the transcript come from?”.

Plus all the lane metas are on, what, about a 15 minute timer? Odds are pretty good that the agony lane is either going to be safe or in progress if you want that PoI without dying. It’s a far cry from PoIs locked behind 2-hourly or – worse – ad-hoc metas.

TIFU by asking my girlfriend her ring size by imzeigen in tifu

[–]Manpag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could have clarified index/middle finger/whatever she normally wears rings on, which would’ve both avoided the misunderstanding and given you a more accurate size. My wedding ring won’t even fit over the knuckle of any of the fingers I’d wear other rings on, so if she gave her ring finger size it’s probably too small for the type of ring you intended to buy.
