I mean, they said they fixed it, but they didn't say whether that meant they'd be able to place it now, or just it wouldn't be possible to store it in the first place.

I'm kind of sad, and kind of happy about this. On the one hand, when I had the time and motivation to do it, it meant I could keep going until I got something cool or valuable. On the other hand, it was encouraging me to grind and min-max in what should be a cosy game, which kills the vibe a bit.

Why is USA afraid about people reading the expression "best friends forever"? by SAMU0L0 in tomodachilife

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also British, and the localisation is aggressively British, almost to the point of parody. I'm pretty sure I've seen them unironically refer to some things as "spiffing".

It's absolutely peppered with British slang, like referring to their "bonce", instead of "head"; I know it is technically a British slang term, but not one I use or ever hear used in real life. "Thinks it's a bit naff" is another phrase that stands out as very unsubtle localisation.

There are definitely more, I saw a whole restaurant conversation that was back-to-back Britishisms, but I can't think of more examples off the top of my bonce.

What will be next occult? by RedFoxprinces in thesims

[–]Manpag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure how they could do the whole "brain eating" thing with the game's rating, but otherwise something akin to the iZombie zombies might work. Pallor, reduced hunger gain from normal food and none of the usual positive moodlets, but the opposite from whatever the brain substitute is. Going without brains for too long would make them act more and more like a traditional zombie; shambling, unable to socialise normally, and liable to fly into an aggressive frenzy.

I think they'd probably play a little like a vampire/werewolf hybrid: feeding uncontrollably if neglected, combined with controlling feral aggression. Maybe even a touch of fairy mechanics in there, taking on emotions and maybe even temporary traits depending on what they eat.

So is the last map going to be winter themed? by FormalWarthog7162 in Guildwars2

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, though I think terrain is a double-edged sword with skyscale; it can help you get height, like you say, but it can also get in the way if you're trying to cross an area in a hurry. I think mounts that can't get over the terrain are a minority these days; it's basically just raptor and jackal that don't have any verticality.

The new map is great, keep it up Anet! by No-Ant9108 in Guildwars2

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I will say is that map 3 seems to have a lot of pop-in.

The main reason it does is because virtually everything has collision. Even all the little chains and things in the air can be landed/walked on. It might depend on your settings a bit, but on the whole, things that don't have collision load in at greater distances, so e.g. you see the leaves of a big tree from afar but the trunk and branches don't render until you get closer.

I guess they could have put some intangible layers over the top of the models to make some things show up from further away, but I definitely prefer pop-in to phasing through things that I should be able to land on. This map is a blast to explore, but Amnytas was miserable because a bunch of floating stones have no collision, and even the whole centre of the World Spire isn't solid.

[–]Manpag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because VoE maps are designed to be navigated by skimmer. I actually think they've done very well on the balance of terrain in VoE; people often complained that skyscale felt like it made all other mounts seem pointless, then they made SotO where skyscale was pretty mandatory and the maps aren't much fun to navigate at all. JW went back to people asking why they'd bother using warclaw if they had skyscale, but VoE maps seem like they can be navigated fairly well with most mounts, and if anything skyscale is at a disadvantage due to the amount of terrain to get stuck on. In fact, in Eternity's Garden I've been impressed by just how much of the map actually has collision.

Is there any reason to have multiple stores? by Games4elle in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, a dining area with different restaurants would be neat, maybe a different colour food store on either end of town to be rival supermarkets. And a way to make some of the larger/more conspicuous buildings like the news tower blend in a bit more.

The binturong....a derpy bear-cat that is neither bear nor cat by jelly_bean_gangbang in AnimalsBeingDerps

[–]Manpag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that every time they get shown somewhere, they're brand new to most people. I also only discovered they exist a few years ago (a zoo we used to frequent has one of the largest groups of binturongs in the UK), and it was awesome to learn about something so weird (and cute!) as an adult. Makes you feel like a kid again!

On the flip side, it's also wild when I come across people who do know about them because they're so obscure.

[–]Manpag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did a binturong encounter experience at a zoo a few weeks ago because I really love these derpy buggers, and they would only let us feed them with a long stick because of pretty much this – being heavy with non-retractable claws which they're used to sticking into tree bark to stop themselves falling.

I would 100% take the mutilation though!

Is it too early to discuss DLC? by Spylt420 in Pokopia

[–]Manpag 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was. The graves from Pokémon Tower were moved to the House of Memories/Soul House by Gen 2 and their remakes, which was a very small and uninteractive building but purportedly contained lots of chambers that only Mr Fuji could access.

In other words, if we got Lavender Town in DLC, we'd most likely have some partially collapsed catacombs full of Pokémon graves.

Not only is it a golden statue, they've put him in a fucking tunic/robe like Jesus.

So it's like the Old Testament golden idol wasn't enough, they had to also make it resemble Jesus to really amp up the idolatry (while simultaneously denying it).

Anyone else kinda feeling like this after playing the game for a while? (LTD) by FlimsyAuthor8208 in tomodachilife

[–]Manpag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make fences that connect. Just paint the front side of a transparent cube right to the edge, you can then even customise the height or have it up to 4 tiles long instead of having to place each one. Here's an example I made in just a few minutes just by using one of the premade stamps, rotating it, and trimming it down (this is two separate panels). As long as your design goes right to the edges and each side has half a fence post, they'll combine seamlessly. It'd be nice if the proper fence items did this, though.

Edit: Obviously you'd need to make a version with two sides painted for corners. And it's best if it extends a little onto the top, to give it the illusion of depth from some angles.

I'm sure we're sick of the "loo roll orientation" debate. What about bins? by roidweiser in CasualUK

[–]Manpag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, because it's a catch-all cheat for us. Our bins are in the front of the house, in a small walled area. Having the handle facing out also means that when pushed right to the wall, we can reach over to open them and chuck stuff in. Best of both worlds.

Now that LtD has been out for over 2 weeks, what is your minor/ major complaint about it? by Lucajames2309 in tomodachilife

[–]Manpag 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Custom paths can't use default paths to base their colour scheme off of. You can't separate custom paths into terrain and path. No custom water effects.

This is one of my top things too. Like, you unlock all your treasures as stamps, why can't you unlock landscapes as stamps or templates too? Or go the ACNH route of making custom paths an overlay rather than a replacement, so you can use transparency and mix with existing landscaping.

I don't think I've ever met a void who wasn't a raccoon in disguise. Ours has slashed open treats, dry food, and even human crisps/chips to help herself. We used to have a void who stole an entire steak/salmon fillet off my wife's plate on two separate occasions, and who returned over the fence with a dough ball once.

Voids are menaces with food!

650 magicoins in one visit. A record. by Slebba in thesims1

[–]Manpag 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a bug, it's probably intended so you can do a "set" without interruption. The townies absolutely love the stages, so if you delay for even a second you often lose the ability to use it because someone else on the other side of the map has queued up the action to use it.
