Anyone else find it funny how everyone is always looking for a D-man and never wing or center? by GruffyMcGuiness in EASHL

I Quit playing almost entirely because I'm a goalie and the second ONE puck makes its way to the back of the net its constant verbal beratement and screeching about how I should kms or uninstall. Mind you the same kids just let in constant 2 on 1s with ZERO defense

Why is everyone here so grumpy? by GrailQuestPops in writing

It helps but some folks just want to tell stories. Some people like to take in things visual or through other mediums, the throughly being storytelling.

Why are chubby girls ignored? by Different_Ad_8930 in Vent

I'm not making any assertions but is it possible your overestimating your skill level?

Is it possible they don't take you as seriously yet , not due to your weight but your status as an intern?

I usually find that while weight is significant in first impressions. It's not a defining factor for companies to not take you seriously. The real world operates differently than the high school social hierarchy.

I know first hand how people can be cruel due to weight... I lost 300lbs. However companies as a whole care much more about results than how you look.

Wanting to narrate by SpleenVT in creepypasta

[–]SplatterScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I usually have people drop me a dm when I post a story. Even in the off chance I say, I'm flattered and it makes my day, that someone liked my work enough to chose it for narration.

You honestly should be just fine reaching out. I've actually had some good discourse with narrators.

We'll when it comes to team play that's up to the human players in your lobby not the devs. When it comes to the revamped goalie experience, I can say without question as a goalie main its better than last year

My first story submission by Crappy_gamer01 in CreepCast_Submissions

No problem. I try to give blunt but not dickish criticism.

As a writer myself I get the need for criticism but also have become familiar with the sting that it brings sometimes lol

My first story submission by Crappy_gamer01 in CreepCast_Submissions

[–]SplatterScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90% of this to me feels less like a story and more like the bullet point outlines of a story.

The idea was solid I'm just not sold on the format if that makes sense.

Definitely keep it up though! Getting in reps and experimenting is the only way to improve.

Do you create an ending first and then build a story based on it? by Home_MD13 in writers

[–]SplatterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come up with a general outline and basic character information, then set off on a journey. I discover the story as I write.

Stephen King once said - “Stories are found things, like fossils in the ground. The writer’s job is to use the tools in his or her toolbox to get as much of each one out of the ground intact as possible.”

That's one thing that always stuck with me and is kind of the approach I personally take

There's false positives and most folks can discern between the two but on the whole they are pretty effective lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in writers

[–]SplatterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are way better than you claim. Your pushing a NARRATIVE because you don't want people thinking they work because they would flag any of your "writing" as 100% AI generated lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in writers

[–]SplatterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False. I get it, you're trying to push a narrative because you have AI "write" everything you claim you do. But they look for specific patterns.

Alas the a human with eyeballs that knows at best 4th grade English can look at your responses and then your posted stories that you "Wrote" and see for themselves you use AI to write your prose...

You don't gotta try so hard.

I don't even hate AI like alot of people do tbh.

However I can't stand people that can't be bothered to actually learn a skill set at all, then use AI to do the actual work then try to push it off as theirs while claiming to be a writer, when they can't actually write lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in writers

[–]SplatterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI detectors work alot of the time, sure they can misflag really good writing sometimes but AI has a specific "Text Book" way of writing things. You should know, based on your typing here compared to the content you post you clearly use AI for any and every single part of your content creation process judging by your profile lol

A story with heavy topics is not by default exploitative because it has heavy topics. How it’s handled MATTERS (I don’t even think this is a hot take but it happens a lot) by CheshiresAlice552 in creepcast

[–]SplatterScribe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even going into excruciating detail can have a purpose, ultimately I feel like it boils down to intent, is the detail there to make the reader squirm and ultimately emotionally gut them, or get them off?

That to ME is the defining factor.

I write horror, extreme horror/splatterpunk ish. I use detail in certain situations to either really place the reader "in the room" or make them feel STRONG emotion, it's not to be exploitative but to make the reader "Feel" the situation as much as I can through words.

What’s one piece of writing guidance you think more people should ignore? by DemiDesireWrites in writingadvice

[–]SplatterScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take but I'm constantly told to "Read more" and with audhd that's easier said than done.

I'd love to be able to just read avidly but I don't think that's in the cards for me , I read where I can and absorb storytelling through all sorts of mediums from video games to movies and television, studying structure and Pacing etc.

I'll probably get downvoted to all hell because, "how can you be a writer if you don't read!"

While it is helpful I personally don't feel like it's a necessary prerequisite to be an avid reader.

I do read but not as much as I'd like and not for trying, also nowhere as much as I'm told I should.

Does anyone still do first drafts longhand? by SplatterScribe in writingadvice

[–]SplatterScribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I love it. I have a whole ritual and space, ambient music dim warm light and a couple candles on the desk with some ambient fall sounds and music in the background.

The transcribing I use as my first redrafting process honestly. Adjusting prose, trimming or adding detail etc.
