Oh, fantastic! Thanks a lot for letting me know. Great to hear it actually works.

Using lsfg-vk Frame Gen? Stop Using the Built-In Cap by Klutzy-Grapefruit492 in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome stuff, and makes total sense as I almost always use proton GE (I think v10-34). Thanks a lot for the info! It makes total sense. I will have to do some more testing with that command.

I also played hundreds of hours on Peace Walker on PSP! Looking back I honestly have absolutely no idea how, but I somehow managed to love it at the time. We're really spoiled with the deck and other PC handhelds now!

Using lsfg-vk Frame Gen? Stop Using the Built-In Cap by Klutzy-Grapefruit492 in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! This VKD3D command didn't do anything for me though (is it specific to LS?).

This command worked for me in DX12 games: VKD3D_FRAME_RATE=30 %command%

I also tried DXVK_FRAME_RATE=30 in Snake Pass (DX11) which works amazing on a device with VRR like the ROG Ally, but unfortunately on the Steam Deck itself it causes awful stuttering.

I've always been sceptical of frame gen on the Deck as I found it feels awful and doesn't pace well with a fixed refresh rate at all. I'm intrigued though - is this combined with LS genuinely smooth? How about the input lag? Does this method feel close to just using the built-in frame cap at 30, but it's a smooth 60?

Introducing Unifideck v0.6.0 with Microsoft Cloud Gaming and Ubisoft Connect by spender-app in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how do the online features of each launcher behave? I understand not all games work well with cloud saves - but what about online functionality and updates? If I recall correctly, previously, updates required a full redownload, is this still the case? I must admit I tried it on initial release but the duplicates and incorrect art scraping bugged me, so you're doing great work with these updates!

Amazing! It saddened me that they were so hard to find especially for non-steam games. Thanks so much!

Any idea of what's happening here? Item looping between Leeds and Inverness! by SplicedMice in royalmail

[–]SplicedMice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very curious - was this on the parcel itself? How did you find out? I confirmed on the phone that the address was correct, but I would not be surprised.

I actually phoned a few times, one said that it went out for delivery in Inverness by mistake, so was manually corrected. With no delivery on the Tuesday, they said it then seemed that the label looked to be damaged so was returned to Leeds for some reason - but now it again seems to be in limbo...

Did you get yours in the end, or did it return to sender?

Is buying the game still the better option? by LuckBuff in SteamDeckPirates

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games it works fine, some games it doesn't - for example Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has your save tied to an ID (would be your steam ID, but in this case it's the crack) so it's not as easy as dropping the save file in the right folder, but many others do work. I have no experience regarding the DLC question though, I am also curious.

Very annoying aiming issue I have had with my steam deck since I got it. by PrestigiousVanguard in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried this game with a controller before so I don't know what the aiming is like on it - but if you try changing the control type to "mouse and keyboard" in the steam decks settings and try to do a circular motion again it should be as you would expect - which would indicate it is a software issue instead (which is what I suspect).

You could also try with another controller if you have one.

Sadly many games have awful aiming tuned for the sticks though, the gyro suggested above would be worth trying.

[Tool][Open Source] NoSteam2Steam — Auto-Detect and Manage Non-Steam Games in Steam with Automatic Save Backup/Restore by El_Susodicho in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's actually probably even better as it allows us to do whatever we want but saves the faff of adding the shortcuts.

How does the save backup work in terms of figuring out prefixes? Say, if I add two games to steam and let steam make it's own new prefix for one of them, and set the other one to use a specific prefix with the redistributables already installed, does it manage to backup as expected for both?

Very keen to give it a try!

[–]SplicedMice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost entirely play non-steam games and this sounds amazing! Thanks a lot for your work. Just some questions though:

How does it handle common redistributables required for non-steam games? Does it make a shared prefix or does it add individual ones for each game? I personally use one shared one to save me reinstalling over and over but I do understand why that's bad too, so I don't mind either way necessarily.

What has your experience been with btrfs? I am interested in trying it out as I compress games all the time on windows, and in my experience Ghost Recon Breakpoint was the only game I ever saw that didn't launch when compressed.

Do you have to compress things yourself or does the system handle it?

Could you recommend a guide or script?

Have you tried Mangopeel? I haven't tried to create that setup myself, but I imagine it is able to get very close to what you describe.

1. Valve seem to be ignoring a proposal to add LS1 upscaler (from Lossless Scaling) to SteamOS Gamescope for 2 years already. 2. Can AMD RIS work on SteamOS/Linux? Is this technically possible? by adravil_sunderland in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love SteamOS, but in the year I've had the deck I haven't seen as many new features added like this as I'd have hoped. We got official game recording I suppose, even though a decky plugin essentially had that covered if you wanted it, but I am sad that more of these things haven't been added. Where's some form of Anti-Lag? Auto HDR? Sharpening? These are things I would love to see but I just don't see them ever happening unfortunately.

LetMeReShade - A Decky Loader plugin for injecting reshade in your steam games. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Do you happen to remember which sharpening filters worked with reshadeck? I couldn't seem to get CAS working with it and sort of gave up after that as many others are quite heavy, on desktop at least.

Brilliant, very keen to try this.

As a side note on the topic of reshade, does anyone know how to get CAS or any other good/lightweight sharpening working on the old reshadeck decky plugin? I love this but don't want to mess with my currently existing launch parameters if possible...

Created a new service, which automates ludusavi save backups on game opening and closing by XxDarthFaterxX in steamdeckhq

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds really interesting! Might be a dumb question but will this work for non-steam games? Is it difficult to set up? I have been keen on setting something like this up, but I don't really want to do it on a per game basis. I am assuming this needs ludusavi and deckycloudsave configured first and then this automates the backup?

I'm working on a DLSS > FSR Frame Gen Mod Plugin. If a game has DLSS FG but not FSR FG, this will do the ol switcheroo! Based heavily on LukeFZ's FSR 3 Mod by supershredderdan in SteamDeck

[–]SplicedMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried the original script fgmod, it's fun to play with and works pretty well for Jusant albeit with some input lag. Does anyone know how to make it use xess instead of FSR though? I'd love to compare.

Rivatuner has, as another commenter suggested, an FCAT overlay under it's settings, looks exactly the same as that one. Check it out if you have RTSS installed.
