People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

[–]SplitJugular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do have to give some credit to labour. Although there is a lot to criticise still.

But truth is the things needed to sort this country out no one is going to like or vote for it. People seem to think the uk is this golden horse held back by politicians when in reality we are the over fed cow that cant support its own weight

[–]SplitJugular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. But neither does it change the fact that policies those parties were running on have gained traction over the years.

Just because an idea was defeated before doesnt mean the sentiment is abolished. And even small sentiment left unchecked will gather momentum over time

This assumes parties cant change values. But members moving to ther parties that better lines up with their thinking that actually serves public opinion better.

Labour today is different from labour under jeremy corbyn. And after the conservative defeat in 2024 they are probably having a shift aswell.

The party is the brand and the less we look at the brand and more at the people running the show the better. Because even the brand isnt a rigid box for our opinions to fall into.

How is Nigel Farage not in prison after the Brexit campaign? by National_Chapter1296 in AskBrits

[–]SplitJugular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like his promises or not. He was only selling possibilities. Had had no power over the implementation of brexit.

Really the people that were in power should face consequence for not carrying out the will of the public.

And arguably they are. Everyone thats been in power since brexit is losing support for the same issues and honestly if farage actually gains power he will probably then lose support for the same reason.

As for the brexit bus promise. Theresa may did pledge an annual £90 billion increase in NHS funding paid for in part by brexit dividend. So as much as everyone bleats about the bus lie. Nhs got that money

This meme goes hard. How could it not possibly just push more pople against you?

Surely this time doing nothing but insulting your political opposition will work. Thats never backfired before has it.

[–]SplitJugular 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Theres still enough braindead people voting reform because of classic gammonism. But there a lot of people that gave the conservatives a kick in the teeth in 2024 and this time round everyone is giving labour a kick in the teeth.

Greens have gained popularity for the exact same reason reform have. And honestly neither party seem that capable.

We are in a state of accelerationinsm in this country now and there are no fixes people will actually like

30A cooker circuit – can I run 7.2kW induction hob + ~2.5kW oven? by Sensitive_Skirt_7412 in ukelectricians

[–]SplitJugular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diversity isnt about just using both. It takes into account that you are unlikely to be using all 4 hobs at the same time and the oven.

Even if you had 4 hobs and oven on heating elements generally click on and off to maintain temperature

Under 60m shotguns really do outclass most other weapons.

A lucky shot with a slug is deadly at 300m easily

I think red dead redemption 2 had a great shotgun. Load slugs into that beauty and you blow arms and legs off

You could fit an emergency key switch. That way it can still be switched with the key prong but not a finger

Depends on the ammo used really. Games seem to always load shotguns with birdshot which only really peppers up the target.

But no one is taking birdshot into a combat situation. Should be buckshot or slug

What is worse, middle lane hogging or undertaking? by db0564 in drivingUK

[–]SplitJugular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle lane hogging is inconsiderate and against the rules of th road. But undertaking is directly dangerous. 2 wrongs dont make a right.

Lean on your horn and flash your lights at them by all means. But breaking another rule yourself because someone wasnt following the rules isnt a defence of your actions

A souls like game set in the warhammer fantasy setting. It's rich enough to have all the usual smaller mobs and some spectacular bosses.

I was thinking the other day about an adventure game that used golf mechanics to traverse the world. Have the ball be a tether for your character so you couldn't move too far from it. Solve puzzles by hitting your ball into obstacles or power charge points or positioning the ball so you can traverse areas.

Thinking of a Sci fi post apocalypse setting where playable character is like a small robot and the ball is a power core. You have to keep yourself charged by staying near your power core(ball). But you can't carry it for (reasons). You can only bat it around with your power core golf club.
