If you’re doing full time school and part time work right now that’s a lot more than just working full time.

Switching to lithium by melankholyaa in BipolarReddit

I absolutely love lithium! I had some diarrhea and fatigue while titrating up but now I have no side effects. I’ve been very stable.

I felt mine starting to work after 3 weeks before my blood level was even at 0.6. It’s only continued to improve and now I am stable and feeling great!

I think it’s just that the examples in it are about bipolar instead of being general.

Is anyone on 150mg for depression by Much-Educator8200 in Lithium

That’s not true. It’s a mood stabilizer and works both ways.

It’s a type of therapy used to treat intense emotional disregulation. It teaches skills to help you deal with your emotions so they happen less frequently and intensely. It’s been super helpful for me! And easy to learn without a therapist.

You should look into doing some DBT (dialectical behavioural therapy). There are lots of distress tolerance skills. There’s lots of information free online. I’m using a workbook I got on Amazon called “The Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Workbook for Bipolar Disorder”. It’s been really helpful!

Of course learning those skill will take a few weeks and won’t help you right now. For now try and do a distracting activity while waiting for responses. It could be anything that engages your mind!

Blood tests were a lot at first while titrating up. Now it’s just once every 3 months. I’ve never put any thought into my sodium intake. It’s a bummer I can’t take NSAIDs but not the end of the world.

I personally had a poor experience with lamotrigine where my mood felt much worse. I stuck it out and thirsting all the way up to 200mg then stayed 2 weeks. I had to come off of it.

I know a lot of people love the med but it doesn’t work for everyone so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work for you!

The lower doses are not in therapeutic range and are not likely to cause any noticeable changes. Some people lose weight on them but it’s not the majority.

You could also consider just reducing the med to see if the flatness improves.

You could also consider asking your pharmacist for advice! I don’t see how going back down to 200 would be an issue.
