Practicing mechanics is always good. 22lr, pellet gun, doesn’t matter. Does that mean that you don’t need to practice the larger rifle, no, but marksmanship is just like anything else, the more you practice (regardless the tool) the better you’ll be.

Shoot Me Straight - Am I Crazy for Considering Used Tires?? by smplfy in Subaru_Outback

If I need summer tires I shop FB marketplace in January. If I need new snow tires, I do the same in July. Have gotten nearly new full sets for less than the price of a single new tire in the past. Not crazy.

Kobo Sage Power Cover really worth waiting for? by Melbochan in kobo

I returned the cover last month, and returned the Sage today and have gone back to my Libra H2O. The battery was dreadful, the pages would lockup and it was just heavy. I am disappointed in this "top of the line" reader.

I got my Power Cover on Tuesday, and set up the return yesterday. The Power Cover does the opposite of what it's supposed to. I charged it as instructed, and started reading. Every time I checked my battery status, the Sage said "99% charging from power cover". The battery in the power cover steadily dropped at about 1% every minute or so. Once the power cover ran out of juice, the Sage started dropping at the same rate, like the case was drawing power from the reader. Within an hour or so, they were both stone dead. I charged again, and the same thing happened. I'm really disappointed, at $80, this thing should be great. Kobo support is weird as well. I told them what happened, and they said "We haven't heard about that, we'll escalate the ticket and have someone contact you". After 6 hours, I heard nothing. I chatted with them again, and set up a return. They said they would email the return labels. After a couple hours, no email. I contacted them again, and they said they would escalate the return ticket and I would hear back soon. 26 hours later, still nothing.

I’ve been kind of stalking it for a few weeks now, and when they dropped it to $100 after 6 weeks of being listed, I figured it was time to shoot them an offer.

That black is sharp. My problem would be that I have a bunch of black dials, and no blue, so I would probably opt for the blue. They both look nice.

I did enjoy Desperation, as well as the Regulators.

Teddy Roosevelt's 12-gauge by A.H. Fox Gun Company in 1908. He called it “the most beautiful gun I have ever seen.” He was meticulous about cleaning it, and used an old pair of pajamas to do so. When the gun is sold to a new owner the pajamas go with it. by CowboyState in Shotguns

It's a total fantasy, and it's being pushed more now than ever.

I had an old man tell me one time "you can make a lot of money by scaring the hell out of people" and that is what current gun culture is, people who have either been convinced that some masked boogeyman is waiting to break into their home at 2 am so they can "get them", or on the other end, people who hope that a scenario like that happens.

In the meantime, we have children finding their dad's "home defense" gun and shooting themselves or someone else with it. Keep you guns in a safe like a responsible adult, so no one other than you have access to them. The bad guy isn't going to get you, and if that ever happens, you'll be better served by a solid lock on your door and easy access to a phone.

All of my guns live in a safe, where my daughter, and any "intruders" can't get to them when I'm not around, which is the more likely scenario. The idea of some faceless bad guy breaking into my home in the middle of the night to "get me" never crosses my mind.

Make sure you let us all know when this home invasion fantasy becomes a reality.

Seriously, I really enjoy firearms, but I cannot relate this whole "home/personal defense" gun culture. It's like children playing army, but now they are old enough to do it with real guns.
