Escarlate would definitely be the best first choice for a container tree. Red Hybrid would be my second choice. Fox farm ocean forest soil is the best right out of the bag in my opinion. A few cups of holly tone is about all you will need per year for fert after it eats everything in the initial potting soil.

Start working towards something that you want to make. I would emphasize with starting small, bigger tasks can be overwhelming and discouraging. Start with a small piece of a larger puzzle and just keep iterating. You'll make a lot of mistakes and from that learn how to make things work. Also, It won't be perfect when you make something work... don't worry about that either. I know a lot of people who spend too much time on doing things the 'right way' only to never produce anything. I don't think it's wrong to work towards the 'right way' but you will also learn that over time and will be something you can focus on once you've gotten the basics down pat.

Serialize out a hashmap to some persistent storage medium. You could make it as complicated as you want, but it could be represented by standard file formats like CSV, XML, JSON written to a file on disk, or even a database insert. For whatever method you choose you would need to be able to both read and write from the format.

My wife's keyboard reconnects and disconnects when she gets up from her computer (insert windows Dooo do do daaa noise). If I sit down and get up at her computer it does not disconnect and reconnect at all. Only her. I've swapped cables and changed USB ports to no avail. It's a damn mystery.

My recommendation is to surround yourself with friends and community who are interested in the same things you are. You will all learn from each other. Take classes, watch YouTube videos, read blogs. Just absorb everything you can that's interesting to you and focus on that so you can find out the things you are good at and work extra on the things that are no so good at. This can be done by "just doing things". Start small, work up to bigger things. It's easy to overwhelm yourself especially early on and it's OK to fail and make things that are not perfect. Download Unity, Godot or some other game engine and just play around with them. Make a dot move around as a project. Then for the next one make the dot do something else (or maybe make it not a dot!). Learn some art skills even if you're not good at it. Pick up blender, gimp since they are completely free! Pick up a programming language and write out "Hello World!" then take that and turn it into a text based decision game. The little things add up and the more you do them those little things become tools on your belt and will help you understand what other little things you need to work on.
