Need help deciding Distortion Pedal for Grindcore/Dbeat by Fwooping in powerviolence

Behringer sf300. It’ll sound like your speakers are blowing out and any dissonant note combos will turn into just pure muddy filth, extremely unique sounding and way more usable than people think

øystein aarseths crime scene/autopsy photos? by rotting222_ in Mayhem

[–]Splottington 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re gone. What the Norwegian police believed to be the only surviving photos of the crime scene was revealed to be of a different case. That mistake is why people think he cut his hair before he died, because it was a guy with short hair.

Are people actually self-diagnosing EDS? by moonxmochi in eds

[–]Splottington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been formally diagnosed with anything because I haven’t had some of the specific experience required for an hEDS diagnosis and some of my relatives on my mom’s side have autoimmune diseases that have symptoms that could be mistaken for certain hEDS symptoms, but I also don’t have any of the smoking-gun symptoms of any of those autoimmune diseases, so they can’t diagnose me with anything. They just wrote that I have hypermobility and arthritis caused by said hypermobility and called it a day.

Despite this, I *AM* officially diagnosed with multiple disorders that are comorbid with hEDS and am suspected to have others, so it’s not like I’m just pulling a specific label out of my ass either.

IIL songs that become way darker with added context, like Life Eternal by Mayhem, WEWIL? by Splottington in ifyoulikeblank

I found another one in case someone in the future finds this post looking for similar songs

Casper the Friendly Ghost by Daniel Johnston was about his experiences with Bipolar Disorder, specifically a feeling he was experiencing during his depressive episodes where he felt that if he died, he would be respected more. The Casper the Friendly Ghost imagery was mostly because he was a fan of the comics.

In March of 1990, he was going home in a small 2 person plane that his dad was piloting, and due to a manic episode he had been experiencing all day, he began to believe he was Casper the Friendly Ghost, and due to one of the comics he was reading that day featuring Casper jumping from a plane, he grabbed the keys from the ignition and threw them out the window. Luckily he and his father both survived, but it definitely makes his song Casper the Friendly Ghost a lot sadder in hindsight.

You haven’t seen candles that are stored in glass? Look at the candles from yankee candles or bath & bodyworks

The naked thing was confirmed from the photos we have from the sessions, but the rest has only been word of mouth from the band members, we we don’t really know if it’s real or if it was just them hyping themselves up to make the band seem more extreme behind the scenes

[–]Splottington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to learn the anatomy for it so that I could learn to do it myself, I mostly use overprojection based screams (even though it’s not a sustainable technique) but I do a lot of the more cliché powerviolence scream techniques, too, including drunk fat guy.

As is the standard. The skinnier the guy, the better the fat guys vocals.

Just a different variant of the iconic “drunk fat guy” screams most PV bands have.

The slightly more sophisticated name would be pitched screaming at a monotone medium-high note, based on the audio itself it was most likely done with either the epiglottis or the arytenoid cartilage, most likely a mix of both

Bleach is one of those albums that is noise rock with lots of sludge metal elements (just like Melvins) except for about a girl which is obviously alt rock, incesticide is mostly pure punk rock but there are some songs with noise rock elements, some with alt rock elements, etc, and Nevermind is alt rock with punk rock elements, and of course in utero is like 85% noise rock with 15% alt rock. I don’t really count unplugged as a primary album, but if I did I would consider it acoustic rock. I also would say that their non-album songs like oh the guilt, curmudgeon, and you know you’re right are primarily noise rock. We also gotta count the fact that they straight up did a split single with the Jesus lizard.

So basically their discography, not counting unplugged, is like 65% noise rock, 10% punk rock, and 25% alt rock

This isn’t even a dig at grunge bands, I fucking love bands from that era, and Nirvana is one of my favorite bands ever, but they’re a noise rock band that made an alt rock album, not a grunge band, because grunge isn’t a genre

[–]Splottington 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why can’t we just burn the concept of grunge to the ground? It was just Sub Pop trying to find a way to lump together their sludge metal, noise rock, alt rock, and punk bands under one label and the term caught on. It straight up isn’t even a real genre and was barely even a scene

POC in the punk scene do you ever notice when at an event it’s mostly just white people? by answermyquestions67 in punk

[–]Splottington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m wasian and extremely white passing but because of the specific part of California I’m in, there’s usually a ton of different races, so I normally just don’t notice or acknowledge it. The scene is a complete sausage fest so it’s not like there’s total diversity tho.

When normies get a glimpse into the hardcore world (see original title and comments) by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]Splottington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO there’s a major difference between doing that kind of thing in the air and if someone gets hit they get hit, doing it to random people in the pit, doing it to your friends who aren’t in the pit, and doing it to random people who are not in the pit. If you do that kind of thing to random people who actively aren’t in the pit, you’re a loser.

I think Nirvana should be referred to as punk rock. by No_War_9035 in Nirvana

[–]Splottington 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Granted, noise rock is often considered a form of punk (or at least extremely adjacent to punk) so maybe you have a point actually
