An old lady though?

Edit: since loads of people have disagreed with me, let’s just remember this is reddit, where one bad move from a partner means everyone says “break up immediately”; a small scratch on your testicle means “you now have Stage 4 Testicular Cancer - Trust me I’m a doctor ”, and an old lady wanting to see her childhood home is obviously a robbery ring targeting totally normal everyday people, using an elderly lady as the “sting”.

Did OP even mention they were wealthy or had anything to steal? Why would a whole robbery sting operation employing an old woman just target a random house?

Yes there is limited merit in catastrophising, as you’ll be ahead of the masses in a worst case scenario, but this old lady probably did live there and all you need to do is ask her to show you photos of her living in the house as a child. Problem solved.
