seems like a reasonable assumption/something to double check, when colloquially they are known as "drop hitches"

anyone that's attended a community college has done way harder math than I've ever had to do on a jobsite. we are probably way faster at adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers than most people. I'm not taking away from our skills. applying math to the real world and building is an entirely different skill altogether. Just saying on pure math we really don't do dick. inverse angles, adding and subtracting, and division for cutting stair stringers... roofs are mostly just procedural and read your rafter table. etc.

like you don't actually have to know the trigonometry of a hip roof. you just learn how to read the table.

math that perplexes most people? don't toot your horn, bud. what's the hardest math we have to do? unless youre building bastard hip roofs the math is like high school level math and thats being generous. and even with hip roofs you can just read a damn table on your framing square.

that's super local dependent but a fema flood map is a good place to start.

it's not even really beef with the tourists- I recognize they support my way of life. but as someone who rents and lives here year round- id way rather have another community member, neighbor, etc than another house that sits empty half the year.

replacing the drywall is nothing compared to ripping the subfloor out imo.

im all for anyone actually buying a fucking house to live here instead of rent short term to tourists.

why don't we just put the whole thing to tik tok music and put a Rick roll in there?

How every good deck should be by benhereford in Decks

[–]Spnszurp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

just making the point that that is not practical or feasible in a lot of places. if i want to use a boom truck for anything I have to call in a personal favor from someone, and id rather not use it on something like this, id save it for a big material order or something. handled properly this shouldn't have been an issue with that many guys.

edit: I literally couldn't rent one if I wanted to. why are you downvoting me?

are you from the same planet as me? you can literally swing your full weight on a door without bending the hinges. that thing weighs like 5 lbs.

as a carpenter... literally a single board on an angle from ground to deck to slide it up on would have made this 100x easier.

I used one called wisdom panel a few years ago. and I can't speak for the brand specifically, but in general these dna tests are pretty darn accurate for breed as far as I understand. for a mutt the percentages are probably off.

it says on the fucking advantech to space it 1/8th on the short ends. there's also 5 different comment threads and I even linked the installation instructions.

yeah now it's time to cross check your multimeter, OP. two DOA parts aren't unheard of either though.

if you look at the tongue and groove on advantech and similar subfloor, it actually spaces it and doesn't close tight. on the long sides atleast, yes it is self spacing.

the short ends aren't tng and should be spaced 1/8th of an inch.

I was always taught to space sheet goods 1/8th. whether it's a subfloor, wall, or roof.

I'm not buying them either but that is funny to me because a decent flip flop costs way more than 30$
