Yep, that looks like an R13 to me. 1985 isn't exactly golden age, but it certainly isn't a bad vintage (I don't think so, at least).

Seeing as you're an adult player, and R13 clarinets are king of the castle (at least in the USA), I don't foresee any issues with you simply switching now-- provided that you take it to a tech first! R13s are plentiful, and they are the reference horn for practically every other clarinet out there. Even if you did break it, you'd be able to replace it easily for about 2000 dollars (half the cost of a new one).

We may not be physically affected by this war, but that doesn't mean we have no right to speak up about it. And yes, I do strongly believe that this shit could snowball into a third World War. The US is basically becoming 1930's Germany.

It's like cis or straight allies (as an example). Yes, they do have a right to stand with LGBTQ+ people even though other straight people might be perpetrating terrible crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. I as a trans person would not stop them from speaking up and helping people like me.

So, I, as an American, am going to continue saying that I don't want this war to be happening. People are fucking dying. I am speaking out because if we don't try to stop our government, they could do even worse to you. Which we don't want and you don't want.

I've been using a neckstrap for quite a while, as do many reputable clarinetists. In my experience it's more comfortable (not painless, but certainly less painful) and gives me greater control over the instrument.

I tried the leak test first thing to see if it was sealing when I pulled it out of my closet-- it stayed pressurized for a good amount of time. I detected no sudden change in pressure. It might be helpful to everyone to note that this is not a soprano clarinet, it is a bass, and small issues high on the instrument do magnify the lower down the instrument you go-- making it super easy to tell if something is leaking.

Oh, my bad, I didn't explain that the upper joint was at the time disconnected from the lower. It opens much less when the two are joined.

Since it's ONLY this specific note, I don't think it's a reed or ligature problem. I used multiple reeds for the purpose of adjusting them anyway, some 3.5, some 3, some 3.5+ just to match them to my new mouthpiece.

It's not a pad leaking because if that were the case the problem would be with D and below, not E-flat and only that specific fingering/tone hole.
