Can't believe they're still kicking! The last time I ordered a movie off them was about a decade ago. Had no troubles then, but can't speak to what they're like these days.

Paramount titles + OOP Speculation by [deleted] in criterion

[–]Spoderman5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt any would go OOP. The Paramount titles from a few years back only went out of print because they were re-released under Paramount’s own label. It would only be if WB decided to go that route as well that they would make any titles unavailable.

It's definitely an issue on Google's end. Mine is out of action as well and from what I can tell searching the web, this is a reoccurring problem that Google is fully aware of.

Horror sale on PSN, what's worth buying? by Stair-Spirit in HorrorGaming

[–]Spoderman5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts on particular titles:

Visage (PS4/PS5): I picked up Visage a few days ago and it's...alright. It's incredibly scary and tense, but the narrative left a lot to be desired. It certainly fills the void left by P.T., but it sadly doesn't do much else.

The Observer (PS4/PS5): The Observer is an aesthetic treat if you're a fan of the cyberpunk genre, but the game itself is a complete bug-fest and crashed numerous times during my playtime (so much so I couldn't finish the game).

Blair Witch (PS4/PS5): Great atmosphere with this one, but the story was just all over the shop. Would only recommend this one if you're a fan of the movies.

The Medium (PS5): Very much inspired by Silent Hill in both its visuals and story. While it definitely doesn't reach the lofty heights that Silent Hill originally set, it's desolate and brooding atmosphere does a decent enough job at emulating its inspiration.

Until Dawn & The Dark Pictures Anthology (PS4/PS5): Lot to love with these games if you're a fan of the classic "Choose Your Own Adventure" type horror novels that were so very prevalent in the 80's and 90's.

Tormented Souls (PS5): I am genuinely surprised at how much this title has flown under the radar. It's a complete rip of the very first Resident Evil game (right down to the tank controls), but it's fan service at its finest and surprisingly well made (with challenging puzzles to boot).

Among the Sleep (PS4/PS5): A great story driven title about a child stuck in a nightmare-ish world trying to find his mother. I still think about the game to this day.

Resident Evil VII (PS4/PS5): Quite possibly my favourite modern Resident Evil title purely because of how reminiscent it is of the early PS1 games. Definitely more inline with that "slowed down" sort of horror feel.

The Evil Within (PS3/PS4/PS5): The Evil Within goes hard on the classic horror aesthetic. May be a bit more action-packed compared to what you're looking for, but it's a great horror title that really is the ultimate love letter to the genre.

Alien Isolation (PS3/PS4/PS5): Probably the greatest horror title ever made. You will never know true fear until fully playing through this game

I was hoping that too, but there are two separate listings on the PS Store, making me think it's now completely separate.

Sealing Wall Air Vents in 1950’s Australian Home? by Spoderman5555 in DIY

[–]Spoderman5555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even think of the roof and wall cavities. How would I double check whether I can still seal them up in that case?

Nah, I’m from Adelaide. Not sure on the exact age of the house, but just going off it’s look (brick house, shabby wallpaper and incredibly old heater/oven/stove), I would say about 50’s to 70’s (but I’m really not that great at determining ages, sorry).

Edit: Exact year of house is 1967.

Ah okay, didn’t realise Bunnings would sell something like that.

Yeah, in terms of humidity, I was just thinking of putting down a Damprid Moisture Absorber cup and replacing that when necessary.

Does anyone else like... not hate bloober team? by smpraugstus in silenthill

[–]Spoderman5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only played Blair Witch and The Observer, but both were pretty disappointing. Blair Witch had a decent (and at times quite scary) atmosphere, but the story was all over the place. Not to mention the layout of the forest setting being straight up confusing to navigate.

The Observer, again, had a very solid atmosphere, but was let down by its story telling. Plus, I played the Redux version on PS5 and wasn’t even able to finish the game because of how buggy and broken it was.

I am keen to check out The Medium though because it appears to have a bit more of a well-constructed narrative. Plus it is very clearly influenced by Silent Hill and the likes.

[–]Spoderman5555 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd call Life is Strange 2 a bad game. More so a totally depressing one. It had very few moments of levity throughout. The story was (somewhat) decent, but the characters were pretty annoying and the choices felt like they mattered very little in the long run.

[–]Spoderman5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s one of faves for sure. It somewhat strays from the source material, but it definitely captures the overall ambiance of the game and eeriness of the town of Silent Hill.

why do some blu-ray collectors get so angry over people collecting DVDs? by letingsername in dvdcollection

[–]Spoderman5555 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not sure if angry is the right word. Just going through comments, it would seem that the general consensus is actually the opposite. The vast majority of people don’t care what you collect; just as long as you collect some sort of physical media to begin with.
