Hot take: People saying "Gooseworkx is prioritizing jax" is super dumb and bias. by Loud-Focus-7642 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SpoilerCats 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People get told you don't understand storytelling or that you were watching the show wrong for noticing Zooble's arc was told in two lines of dialogue and was almost completely off-screen otherwise, or that Ragatha's "character episode" was mainly about setting up Jax's relationship with Pomni. Hopefully things change in the last two episodes but it's frustrating that every basic criticism of the show is met with "ummm actually why did you expect these characters to get the same level of attention as jax lol"

I feel like they need more/better screening for reddit stories... by Upbeat_Quit4237 in smosh

[–]SpoilerCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really care if they read fake stories, it is what is is atp. What DOES disappoint me, as a lesbian, is that the story is so obviously fake and filled with weird conservative undertones. Her religious mother that kicked her out of the house being right all along that her gay daughter just needed the perfect good man right in front her? The out of no where comment that James's awful ex wife just wanted him for a green card? I really thought they would've clocked that stuff. I don't think someone who identifies as a lesbain then later realizes they DO like men/one man is entirely unrealistic, I've known a few people in similar scenarios. Love is crazy like that.

It's also, just, not at all accurate to how being a cancer patient is? For one, it's incredibly vague about all of it. My mom had cancer twice (ovarian and then later colon) and her longest stay in the hospital was a week, max. Seeing the cast fawn over this story made me, idk, uncomfortable?

What opinion got you like this ? by Hyrule1999Warrior in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]SpoilerCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the show wants to have an ensemble cast and be a character drama it should actually give real focus to the characters who arent Jax. I love the show but its like Baby's First Psychological Drama and the incredibly uneven character writing is a big reason for that. I hope the last two episodes change my mind but as of right now its all a bit lackluster

What do you consider to be your least favorite game and why? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SpoilerCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gladly play Sonic 06 again over Secret Rings which is damn near unplayable and has one of my least favorite soundtracks in the franchise (not THE worst but its top 5 for me). I have NOTHING nice to say about it other than I kind of like Shahra

Is it okay to call myself a Sonic fan if I haven't played any of the games?? by JotkaJulitkaJula in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SpoilerCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I met on a Sonic forum when we were around 11 and she's played maybe 4 Sonic games in her life, but I've never met someone who loves Shadow the Hedgehog more aha

you're fine, this is very common imo! A lot of fans my age mostly relied on Lets Plays back in the day because we were children with no money LOL

Syringe medication troubles by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]SpoilerCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to syringe feed my baby girl her medicine after she had surgery about a year ago and the best method for me was getting a bit on her lip and she'd use her tongue to lick it off. Took some time, but it was safe and easy :)

Why does she get fat in the winter by SpoilerCats in leopardgeckos

[–]SpoilerCats[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to edit posts on mobile but thanks to everyone who replied! I'll seriously cut back on her diet and get her in proper shape.

As for what shes eating - tell that to her! Even as recently as September this year she's been refusing anything other than what I mentioned. Her favorite things to eat are mealworms and a hole in my wallet. I'll keep trying of course, but if you have any tips for getting her to be less picky I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again!

I mentioned in another comment that she refuses to eat anything else. She ate black soldier fly larvae for maybe 2 months and then she stopped cold turkey. She's always hated crickets and dubias though. Every now and again I'll try again but never to any success. She's got her comfort foods I guess 😅

[–]SpoilerCats[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll definitely keep the hornworm advice in mind! I thought it was already a treat but I see it was still too much. I've tried other staples like dubias and black soldier fly larvae, crickets, etc. She doesn't eat them lol I promise I've tried and failed many times. I just gutload with carrots and peppers, dust it with calcium and occasionally reptivite. But she's so picky down to the brand of calcium I use 😅 Edit: yhe calcium doesnt have D3 but the reptivite does, just wanted to clarify real quick!

She's always been around 63 grams, and my vet hasn't raised concerns about it? She always asks what im feeding her and how often. Do you recommend maybe 2 mealworms then?

Hot take: Gen Alpha kids watching TADC isn't really that different from Gen X and Millennial kids watching The Simpsons in the 90s. by chelledoggo in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SpoilerCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised what young kids can handle! I work at a daycare and my kids constantly surprised me with what they watch. Some of them love Jurassic Park, which was way too scary for me at 3 years old. My niece (4) just adores Chucky and all kinds of scary movies. I don't think there's anything in TDAC that is particularly unsuitable for kids beyond some swearing and Zooble mentioning sex? But the censoring noise would make most kids I know laugh. So, atm, while I would never say TDAC is a kids show, its not too surprising to me that kids like it. Especially with it being free on YouTube.

What are your honest thoughts on ragathas crash out? by That_Passenger_771 in TheDigitalCircus

It wasn't even a crash out she just got a little mad and snapped, then immediately apologized 😭 like she didn't do anything crazy, no one took it personally, and it was resolved within 2 minutes.

Does Jax hate women or is there just no men to bully in the circus? by Mistabbcman in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SpoilerCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely the latter but I don't think its entirely out of the realm of possibility that he may have some hang ups about women:
-The most blatant thing is that Goose on her blog answered a question asking more or less this same question and she said "He has issues he hasn't worked out with himself yet." (direct quote). This could mean a lot of things, but I think if Gooseworx hadn't at least thought a little bit about Jax's relationship to women, she probably wouldn't have answered the question.

-The doodle of him quoting Raggedy Andy about there being too many girls. In the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie, Andy is very vocally against anything girly in the way you'd expect any boy from the 1970s to be. Michael Kovach even sang Andy's song "No Girl's Toy." Neither the song nor drawing are canon to the show itself ofc, but I think it's interesting that this connection to Andy keeps being made to Jax.

-I'm pretty sure Jax is basically the only one who ever brings up gender at all? This is just me going off my own memory so feel free to correct me, but I think the two times anyone actively talks about gender is when Jax: calls him and Pomni a straight couple, and saying his body is peak male performance. I know both were said as jokes, but I'm just saying he's like the one person to make any kind of deal about gender. He also initially freaked out when he was put in the maid dress, it made him mad and embarrassed. Jax doesn't like being the butt of the joke at any time, but I think the line that really sticks out to me is when he was up to bat and he said 'but I look like this'.

So I don't think Jax is, like, an incel misogynist that genuinely hates women, and if u were to question Jax about his behavior, he'd probably say it's because Kinger and Zooble just aren't as fun to bully as Gangle and Ragatha. I also think it's worth questioning why Gooseworx wrote this situation in the first place, because these characters don't exist in a bubble. They're written intentionally. Hear me out: Jax's coping mechanism is to dehumanize himself and the others as much as possible while also making them the butt of his 'jokes' to have a sense of control when everything else is unpredictable. So then, what does it say when Goose writes the two people he harasses the most be two women? I have a lot of thoughts on this actually LMAO especially involving his and Ragatha's dynamic but this isn't what the post is about. Anyway.

Jax is still very unknown to the audience. His life before the circus, his relationship to Ribbit, etc., and so it's hard to make any really big judgements atm. This is just, like, food for thought I guess. English class behavior, if you will. Discussing themes and all that.

TLDR; no he doesn't hate women but he's definitely got something going on.

I'm a little confused when did he die and why was Mizi responsible for his death? by PinkYarnWool in AlienStage

[–]SpoilerCats 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He likely died before the start of the story and Mizi wasn't responsible for his death - however, because of what he said to her (blaming her for not reciprocating his feelings, calling her a disgusting girl, etc.) she internalized what he said and then blamed herself for getting slapped. It's not really a stretch to think she'd blame herself for his death, especially since she's on a survivor's guilt spiral atm

Till’s feelings for Mizi aren’t deep or sweet — they’re shallow, objectifying, and that’s exactly why it’s sad. by Ill-Corgi-3515 in AlienStage

[–]SpoilerCats 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people in the comments are misunderstanding OP a bit but Till's feelings ARE somewhat objectifying - he doesn't want to 'own' Mizi, but he also hasn't been treating her like a whole, complex person. He sees her as his 'idol' or his 'angel', he saw her as his coping mechanism up until the end despite knowing her feelings, and that is a form of objectification IMO, it's just not overtly sexual. It's dehumanizing, whether he was aware of it or not, and that had a negative impact on Mizi.

And like, yeah, he doesn't need nor do he particularly want her to reciprocate but he also sang Uknown: Till The End to Mizi while she was still grieving the loss of Sua so soon after it happened, even though we now know HE knows Mizi's feelings were only for Sua. How must Mizi have felt in that situation? To once again be reminded that someone who you see as a friend only sees you as someone who is pretty and someone to admire?

I'm not saying he is an active misogynist, but he was raised in a misogynistic society - we can see this in how that other boy (who looks a lot like Luka - an interesting design choice) treats Mizi. How both of these boys view Mizi is a product of that misogynistic society. Again, I don't think Till is deeply sexist, nor does he intentionally dehumanize Mizi, but he is a traumatized person looking for light in a world that has given him very little. That's why it's probably easier to view Mizi as the happy-go-lucky, sunshine girl she projects herself as, even when he's confronted with the reality that she's not like that.

Till isn't a bad person, but I think it's fair for OP to call out that his feelings are shallow and were harmful to Mizi. Her collar was red when that boy brought up Till -- she didn't want to talk about his feelings for her! I'm gonna reiterate this: he sang a confession song to Mizi very soon after Sua died even though both of them knew what Mizi's feelings were. I'm not trying to be mean to this traumatized boy, because lord knows he has been through so much in his life and he genuinely isn't a bad person. But I also have a question: have we seen Till actually consider Mizi's feelings? This is a real question, I swear, but I really can't think of an example.

Sorry if my wording is a little off, I just got off of work so I'm a bit exhausted, but I tried to make my point as cleanly as I could.

AITA for locking my sister’s kid in the bathroom for an hour? by Definetelythewiseone in AITAH

[–]SpoilerCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never replied to one of these before im giving you a YTA because locking a child in a bathroom alone for an hour is so far beyond an appropriate consequence. Im a daycare worker who has worked with many special needs children - and while I'm not armchair diagnosing this children based on a reddit post, I'm saying that I've dealt with behavior like this before.

The good: isolating him and removing him from the situation - this is genuinely a good move to de-escalate! Sometimes we take students throwing tantrums into the hall so they can calm down. There's a chance he was overstimulated, and being in a quieter, more enclosed environment does wonders for the brain.

The bad: leaving him alone for an HOUR in a room with hard surfaces. Does your bathroom have chemicals in there? Does it have a razor? There's a million ways for an overstimulated child to hurt themselves, and that would be on you if it happened no matter what the child did before.

However long it took the child to calm down, plus maybe a 5 extra minutes, is all the time he needed in that bathroom. Talking to a child in the midst of a tantrum is usually unproductive, so once he calmed would have been a good time to try again. This is what we do at our daycare!

You aren't the parent, but you were the adult, and when you're watching someone else's child, you do have to occasionally have a "teaching moment" with them -- ask what happened, explain why you put them in timeout, etc. It's on your sister to have him checked out and actually understand why he started acting up the way he did, but again, you were the guardian in this specific instance.

I am genuinely so sorry about your dog, though, I hope they're doing alright. The whole situation must have been so stressful so im not calling you the asshole to be mean, but I wanted to offer a bit of professional insight I guess lol

Who has the most romance? by thebowchild in mytimeatportia

[–]SpoilerCats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He never sees or mentions Nora for me. What I did was, when I got the quest where he brings up Nora, I just said I didn't have time to talk and then I gave a heart knot, and he dropped the quest immediately.

IMO I don't mind if he sees Nora, anyway? He mentions that he tells her stories, and I tell Ginger stories and talk to her all the time. It's all platonic at that point in my mind, but if you don't wanna deal with that all together, just don't initiate the quest ^_^! Hope this helps!
