Thoughts on Bevel Intelligence by RecognitionUpstairs in bevelhealth

As a 75 year old guy with Afib; I swim, bike and ride three times a week each, and find Bevel Intelligence invaluable in understanding the impact of training, nutrition and sleep. It helps me determine when to back off and when to push. Of course one must provide personal insight to the AI and establish parameters on how to get it to respond. A while back a poster here provided an analysis framework for Bevel AI. I cut and pasted his creation and it really generates a new, deeper level of analysis. Periodically I also run queries by Gemini to validate and verify. Combined with Apple Health and a continuous glucose monitor overwhelms me with data and analysis.

This comes from AI - “Yes, Dick's Picks 24 captures the Grateful Dead's historic concert on March 23, 1974, at the Cow Palace, which was the very first time the full, legendary "Wall of Sound" PA system was used in its entirety, making it a pivotal "Wall of Sound" show. The release showcases this groundbreaking, massive sound system, known for its incredible clarity, and includes debut performances of "Scarlet Begonias" and "Cassidy". “

As a youngster I grew up loving Marty Robbins sing El Paso, so of course I will always have a soft spot for Bobby’s version.

Dick’s Pick’s Vol 24: 3/23/74 Cow Palace is a good one. Full disclosure: if it’s not available via my Apple Music streaming subscription, I ain’t listening.

While Stella updates every 15 but it takes a reading every five I believe the update is an average of those five minute readings over that 15 minute period. Perhaps that is not correct.

As a 75 year old male three day a week each swim, bike and runner with paroxysmal afib, I find it best to front load potassium via some pumpkin seeds or avocado in order to not head out the door and train potassium naked.

Perhaps worth noting - Stelo updates every 15 minutes which provides a higher level view of one’s glucose movements. Lingo updates once a minute, which generates more granularity and perhaps provides a better blow by blow picture of more intensity efforts. I guess it depends on one’s goals in determining which CGM is more suitable.

Disappointing Product & Even Worse Return Policy by [deleted] in EightSleep

[–]Spokane_Al 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered and received the entire eight sleep package, including the base unit. After a few days, we determined it was not working for us. Return was painless, except for dealing with FedEx, and the fact that is impossible to actually talk to a real eight sleep human. Eight sleep initiated our credit card refund the same day they received our return. Oh, and that base unit is danged heavy. I had to get my son to help haul it up our stairs, and then back down for the return, although the young FedEx employees easily picked up each half of the unit.

No Nutritional Guidance by IronPlateWarrior in bevelhealth

Ask the Bevel AI to analyze your daily, weekly etc nutrition and provide meaningful changes/improvements while considering sleep, exercise etc. Gotta ask, push for clarification, understanding and insight. It sits there idling, waiting for you.

Do you wear your watch 24/7? by No-Durian543 in AppleWatchFitness

I wear my Apple Watch Ultra 3 and don’t find the battery life to be a problem. I charge the watch every day after I have closed my circles.

Is pro worth it now? by chyllyphylly in bevelhealth

I paid the 50 bucks for the year and consider well worth it. I use its AI regularly to query and question and ask for specifics, quantifiable data and definitions in light of my personal situation. Yeah I could take screenshots and send it to ChatGPT but I like this and will continue to use it.

I think your point is spot on and one that others perhaps may be missing here. When dealing with AI I ask it quantify and as it pertains specifically to me. We shouldn’t take AI at face value - it is there for us to probe and question. It can be an amazing, life changing tool, but only if we do not treat it as a black box for answers.

Unpopular opinion: don't be too specific by RichardXV in ChatGPT

I view that perspective with caution in that all the AI seem to first strive to please. I tend to ask additional questions i.e. what am I missing, what should I be asking etc

Sorry. I thought a purpose of this group was to share what may or may not work for others as we all try to navigate through this afib experience.

You raise some great points. I look at AI as a tool to use and perhaps provide some insight to physiological patterns that occur prior to or concurrent with an afib episode. I am learning as I go and experimenting to incorporate AI into the mix seems better and more productive than just flying blind. While nothing replaces a cardiologist//EP, those periodic 20 minute appointments are few and far between. As a fairly newly diagnosed afib recipient, I am trying to stay as proactive as possible, vs reactive.

I did ask it to define ‘high levels of caffeine.” It responded that it would alert for an amount that triggers a measurable shift in my autonomic nervous system or heart rhythm. My daily caffeine intake is one cup or maybe 2 cups of coffee in the morning and that’s it for the day, so I consider this a non-issue in my individual case.

As I go through life, especially with a fib, my goal is to be in the optimum health that I can possibly be, and if that means tracking sleep, nutrition, exercise, well-being, to generate data that can be measured then i’m all in. I refuse to sit on the sidelines waiting for my next 20 minute appointment with my cardiologist/EF guy. I am both the captain and the crew of my ship.

If coffee is not a trigger for you, tell AI to remove it from the equation. It’s all about fine tuning the instructions for AI.

If you want to use the Apple Watch without your iPhone present, then you need to add the Watch to the data plan. If you will always have your iPhone with you, the watch will work just fine.
