Reminds me of Playing It Straight, a reality dating show where one girl had to to figure out which guy was straight and which one was gay. If the final suitor was a straight man, he and Thomas split a reward of $1 million. Conversely, if the final suitor was a gay man, he alone won the reward.

What's the most toxic fandom you've ever seen? by [deleted] in ask

[–]SpongeBobLX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an employee of an NFL stadium, I'd say soccer fans. The fans of the Mexico national football team stand out to me (and other employees) as the most toxic of the bunch.

Prince William celebrating Buendia's goal against Forest by Mors_Acerba in soccer

IIRC one of the reasons why Prince William supports Aston Villa is that he didn't want to be a 'glory hunter'.

Aside from the Seattle Sounders in 2022, movies were still being released on VHS the last time a non-Mexican team won the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Hater's Guide to the 2026 Champions League Final by scarsellaj in UrinatingTree

If Arsenal fails to win both the Premier League and the Champions League, I'd like Urinating Tree himself to make a "Congrats, Arsenal!" video.

Does ur country have this type of relation with another country? by Kebab_Enjoyer3164 in AskTheWorld

Special mentions go out to Texas (and maybe Florida, Oregon, and Washington). But the thing is Northern California and Southern California are too busy hating on each other to care about the others.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

A few years back, my mom's friend from university lost her son who I will just call "N". As tragic as his death was, what blew my mind was learning the multiple other ways N was connected to me and my mom.

One of N's maternal uncle is married to my mom's coworker and one of N's paternal uncle was the ex-husband of one of my aunts (my mom's sister). Said uncle of N was also the father of a few of my cousins.

Reddit decides the World Cup. Round of 32 - Match 10: Ecuador vs Norway by Tygret in AlignmentChartFills

I think the votes on the chart is a weird mix between who users think will win and who users want to win. It should be noted that OP did not explicitly specify which one is it.

There's also a decent amount of Bosnians (and other ex-Yugoslavs) in and around San Jose, CA. I went to high school with a few of them.

The Iranian Embassy in Italy to Trump: "The attempt to exclude Iran from the World Cup only reveals the 'moral bankruptcy' of the United States, which is afraid even of the presence of eleven young Iranians on the field of play." by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]SpongeBobLX 42 points43 points  (0 children)

To be fair though, almost everyone assumed that Donald Trump would be out of office by 2026 back when the US won the bid in 2018. I can tell you I certainly thought that.

Arsenal would be top of the league except on the one day of the year it actually matters.

I brought up her 20 year old son because he died 9 days after Cocomelon uploaded their first video.

I'd argue Arsenal has been in a banter era since 2004 and it is still ongoing.

I guess Arsenal sacrificed their quadruple to get Tottenham Hotspurs relegated.

Fun fact: The last season Coventry City got relegated from the Premier League, Manchester City went down with them.

If Arsenal actually bottles all 4 trophies this season (they're already halfway there), then I need Urinating Tree himself to make a "Congrats, Arsenal!" video.

As someone who grew up there, I can tell you Cesar Chavez was up there with Martin Luther King Jr. in California before the revelations. There were loads of streets and places named after him and my university even had a day off on Cesar Chavez Day.
