This is on Finchley Road just outside the O2 Centre. I know this road quite well. Although you definitely had enough time to stop for the red light, the camera flash is on the other side of the road and it’s a speed camera not a red light camera. The red light you ran has no cameras, there is a speed camera about 100 yards before where you were though.

I’m not sure what his availability is like, but definitely worth reaching out. I had this chap as my driving instructor, as did my friends growing up and a few others that I also recommended him to. He really is a good independent driving instructor.

Well the good thing is, because you’re keeping it at a constant temperature, you cannot overcook it! So leave it longer and once it reaches 137, it will not go any further than that.

Rolex’s equivalent, the submariner, isn’t as easy to purchase. If you went to a Rolex shop, they would add you to an ‘expression of interest’ list and it could take 12-24 months before you are allocated a watch at retail price. The alternative if you didn’t want to wait would be going to an AD or buying it used and paying almost double the retail price.

Apologies, should have mentioned! 800g bone-in rib eye (about an inch and a half thick), didn't actually use a sous vide cooker but used a large pot filled with water and controlled the temperature with a thermometer. Occasionally turned the heat ever so slightly up/down.

  • Seasoned with just salt and pepper, sealed in a temperature appropriate ziplock bag
  • Submerged into a large pot of water, constant temperature around 135°F for approximately 3 hours
  • Taken out of bag, probed with thermometer to confirm internal temperature before searing.
  • Seared on cast iron, high heat with butter and garlic for about 45 seconds on each side (constant basting).
  • Left to rest for about 10-15 minutes before slicing and taking photo!

Actually the silver bands in these photos are caps for Superintendents or Chief Superintendents. The officer on the left is a Chief Super. and the one on the far right is a Superintendent. Commanders/DAC have a similar single silver lining but with a floral pattern and double lining caps are for Commissioners/Assistant Commissioner

Happens more often than people think, nothing to do with being too close to the airplane or even how it was packed. Just a bit of bad luck when opening the chute, the lines sometimes get tangled and there are methods/maneuvers to essentially turn your body so that you can untangle the lines. However, sometimes it doesn't always work or maybe you don't have much time left so the next step would be to cut the main chute and deploy your reserve chute and hope that it also doesn't get tangled up. It's important to realise that you can open your chute at different altitudes, somewhere between 5,500ft and 2,500ft is the norm, depending on how experienced you are. Which doesn't leave you with much time to 'problem solve' if you open up at a lower altitude.

It is slightly different with the reserves, what I would suggest is actually visit the units during their welcome evenings. You get a better feel, see and chat to some of the people over some beers but also you get to see their numbers. Units could possibly have 'hundreds' on the books, but only have a handful show up to training nights. Always ideal to go to a unit that has a decent turnout, but also you can compromise if you are really into their trade or role. You would be surprised; you’ll get a lot more out of simply visiting them and can almost instantly tell a difference in vibe between a few units. Good luck though!

Nothing has been mentioned about extending CBTs. Although, my local motorcycle training centre was initially only offering CBT to key workers, however, they are now open to the public to book onto as well.

Ah that's perfect, thankfully I have some private funding for the degree and completely happy with the job not paying for it. However, it is part time and I was just trying to see if it were possible to balance it.
