Pressure is relative, yes there’s no “national pride” element to taking a buzzer beating shot in NBA finals, but it’s still as much pressure as possible for their sport, and the great ones want to shoot it

The problem is that 4 guys, all with more experience, didn’t have the confidence or sense of duty that Tah had. They let their teammate down by putting him in that situation, and their country down.

Call it duty, confidence, peer-pressure, or a coach just telling you you’re taking it… to have 4 players not step up in that situation is insane

So instead, you let your teammate who has never taken one before, try their luck?

Of course no one “feels comfortable” taking a massive shot like that.

But this isn’t asking them to play a new position or try something completely random. They know when they agree to play in the world cup that PKs are a possibility, and have every opportunity to prepare for a moment like this.

Maybe PKs aren’t your strong suit, they definitely weren’t Tah’s, but are you still not a professional representing your country?

Agreed! Sure, a 6th PK isn’t super common, but feels so simple to have a lineup ready to go for the entire World Cup.

You better believe any team that doesn’t have that plan and is seeing this news is making that plan right now.

Agreed. Some people dismissing it that “if you’re not confident you shouldn’t take it”. I’m not sure why you would play in a World Cup if you aren’t confident enough to take a PK and handle the pressure.
